Poll: 42% Of Republicans Think Santa Is 'Verifiably White'

IGOR BOBIC – DECEMBER 19, 2013, 12:26 PM EST

Megyn Kelly might have been on to something when she proclaimed that "Santa is what he is," which is white.

While the American public at large remains split about the shade of Santa's skin -- 32 percent say he is white, while 36 percent say he is not, according to a new poll by Democratic firm Public Policy Polling -- Kelly may find a more receptive audience on Fox News.

Forty two percent of Republicans believe Santa Claus is not just white but "verifiably white," while 23 percent said he is not, according to the poll. Only 24 percent of Democrats, on the other hand, said he was "verifiably white" while 48 percent said he is not.

Kelly insisted last week that her comment was a simply jest that critics were using to "race-bait and to assume the worst of people." She has found support in fellow Fox News Host Bill O'Reilly and a Libertarian radio host who claimed that Santa is white just like Martin Luther King Jr. was black.

One day there will be a sentence in some history book describing the fall of western civilization: "The second dark age began with the collapse caused by the great civil war over rival reality TV celebrities."

The only way to make that stuff irrelevant is to turn it off and stop talking about it.

White Rabbit Lyrics - Jefferson Airplane

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall

And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call to
Call Alice
When she was just small

When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know

When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said;
Feed your head
Feed your head

Vampires ... hum ... they tend to be pretty white too.

I'm sensing a pattern.

Volume and passion count for much more with them.

We need to borrow a bit of that, while keeping the facts as well.
