How I wish Howard Dean had a bully pulpit

He was a guest of Karen Finney yesterday and, as always, clear and direct about the cutting of unemployment benefits

(this is the 10 min video, cannot find a transcript).

If he had an official position, he would be invited to many of the talk shows where he can actually explain the facts instead of using weasel words. And then would be quoted on other shows.

(I never understood why he was replaced as chairman of the Democratic party after his 50 states approach won big in 2008).

Because the DNC should have a Chair that reflects the choice of the president.

I think he wanted to retain independence and not be the mouthpiece of someone else.

In any case, two years of that job with the stress and travel would be enough to wear anyone out

Interesting to compare the Republicans. They booted out Michael Steele who was the chair when they took control of the House in 2010, but retained Reince Priebus who was the chair when they lost in 2012.
