Invoking Monica Lewinsky against Hillary Clinton could be an appropriate tactic should she decide to pursue the familiar 'War on Women' attack on Republicans in 2016, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough suggested on Monday.
"If Hillary Clinton attacks the Republican Party's handling of women, and treatment of women and disrespect for women, and suggests theyre misogynists et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, it does seem to be a fair question to ask right now, a few years out, does the media have a responsibility to say, Well, lets see what happened when you were in the White House, and how women were treated when you were in the governors mansion and the White House? Is that fair?" the 'Morning Joe' host asked Monday morning.
Members of the show's panel were discussing Sen. Rand Paul's (R-KY) suggestion on Sunday that even though the Lewinsky scandal was not Hillary Clinton's fault, it could affect her prospects in 2016. Paul said that Bill Clinton's "predatory behavior" impacted his ability to talk about the Republican "war on women," but Scarborough thought it might affect Hillary Clinton as well.
"Does this not compromise Hillary Clinton's ability to bash Republicans as being terrible toward women, misogynist, et cetera?" he asked. MSNBC host Al Sharpton challenged Scarborough and said it would be a poor strategy for Republicans to attack Hillary Clinton over the Lewinsky scandal. "I dare the Republicans to take that to her, because if Im her, I would dribble, hit the backboard, and score a three-pointer, because she was the wife in this. She was not one that I would want to mess with."

(5,325 posts)But given the fact they are not willing to change their repressive policies regarding women's issues, it's about all they got at this point .

(21,115 posts)they still are flailing around trying to find some way way to change the flavor of their distasteful policies.

(1,941 posts)That dead intern, Monica Lewinsky, turned up in Bill's office.
No - wait a minute ... that's not right, is it Joe?
It was YOUR intern, Lori Klausutis, who turned up DEAD in YOUR office, wasn't it?
Therefore Joe "I've-got-a-dead-intern-in-my-office...gee-what-are-the-odds-of-that" Scarborough - maybe you better not go there.

(21,115 posts)I believe that she was the victim. And she was the ONLY victim. Bill's dalliance with Monica was not a public policy that affected millions of women in the country. (Any Republicans out there, can you see the difference now?) My wife (who happened to like Bill) laughed at the whole thing.

(7,784 posts)extremely sexist to judge her not on her own merits but rather by the actions of her husband. She has quite a portfolio of her own and everyone knows that.
And Joe Scarborough should STFU when it comes to interns.

(24,437 posts)The idea that Bill's affair has anything to do with the Democrats' ability to speak about the Republican "war on women" betrays an "alarming level of confusion" among Republicans about what the "war on women" is about- and why they are too clueless to repair their horrible image among women. Has anybody noticed how unhinged they get over Democratic attacks over the "war on women"?

(15,373 posts)is expressed in such a statement. But it certainly lines up with the GOP's "deaf ear" generally, which is about what one can expect from this completely overrated individual.
Please proceed, GOP. Please. And be prepared to live with the consequences.

(15,224 posts)As Hillary stayed with Bill after his infidelity - one would THINK that would be what so many of the right-wing idiots would have wanted her to do. You know - honor the vows and all that.
If she'd left Bill, they would have jumped on THAT even harder saying that she left the marriage without trying to work things out.
I'm not following their line of thinking on this attack against Hillary. What exactly did Hillary have to do with Monica Lewinsky?
I'm wondering if they are trying to set up some type of right wing idiocy insinuating that Bill only cheated because Hillary wasn't "woman enough" for him or some other lame, brain, fool, idiotic thing.
Would love to see them say that out right and watch the smart women of America smile at their (the GOP's) stupidity.
