Many Republicans believe that if you are not a landowner, then you do not deserve to vote.
If you accept public aid, then you do not deserve to vote.
If you were not born in this country, then you do not deserve to vote.
If you are young and inexperienced, then you do not deserve to vote.
If you have been imprisoned, then you do not deserve to vote.
If you are not employed, then you do not deserve to vote.
If you do not have a drivers license, then you do not deserve to vote.
Basically, they would like to approve all voters.

(14,177 posts)I am a woman though so maybe I hit five out of eight categories they would deny. I also have a bit more than a high school education so that might make them nervous as well.

(9,350 posts)Things like this and Mitt Romney's 47% comment prove Republicans do not know their voters. Many Republicans, even though they claim to hate government and blame government for their dependence, rely on government assistance to make ends meet. The New York Times wrote a story about people who rely on government assistance, but claim they want government assistance cut. When one of the people profiled in the article was asked why he opposed government assistance when he was receiving government, he replied that if the government would cut government assistance he would no longer need the assistance.
Yes, whites are more likely to own homes and land, but there are a number of white Republicans who do not own homes or land. The same thing goes for the rest of that list. There are a number of young people who vote for the Republican Party. Numerous people who were not born in this country vote for the Republican Party. Arnold Schwarzenegger is one on a number of foreign born Republicans. There are many people in West Virginia who are living off disability insurance. I am pretty sure those people are white Republicans. Even a number of Tea Party Republicans (even high ranking ones) have admitted to using government assistance.

(7,767 posts)that if you're not a republican than you don't "deserve" to vote, and the party of hypocrites that are always citing "The Constitution, The Constitution"they certainly don't live by it's tenets-only the parts that behoove them.
