Pelosi Again As House Democratic Leader? Murphy Says ‘I Want To See What The Options Are’

National wave-defying Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Jupiter, says he’ll take a wait-and-see approach to Rep. Nancy Pelosi‘s bid for another term as House Democratic leader.

On a night when Democrats lost at least 13 House seats nationally, Murphy defeated Republican challenger Carl Domino with 59.8 percent of the vote in a GOP-leaning district. Republicans have a 2-point registration edge in Palm Beach-Treasure Coast District 18, which voted for Republican Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential race.

Pelosi said Wednesday she plans to seek another term as Democratic leader.

Asked if he’ll support her, Murphy said: “We’ll see. I imagine there’ll be some challenges…I want to see what the options are.”

IMO, both Pelosi and Reid need to step aside from leadership positions...

I like Nancy, I really do. She isn't a blue dog dem that like to sound and act like a republican. She isn't the problem here. I hope she come back.

The one good thing about this past election was most of the dems that I didn't care for lost.

Unlike some here that want to establish purity tests for Democratic officeholders, I'm glad that Murphy defeated Alan West 2 years ago and am okay with his election. But keep in mind that Murphy was a repub (and a contributor to Mitch Romney) until 2008, one of his biggest backer was Goldman Sachs, and he favors construction of the Keystone pipeline.

So anyone here that agrees with him that Pelosi should be replaced probably doesn't agree with him as to why or who would be the best replacement.

sometimes you need a fresh set of eyes to look at things. With historically low numbers of Dems in the House, I think we could use some new blood. We don't need a blue dog or moderate, just someone new.

After the disastrous results from the last election - let's clean house and get some younger, more energetic leadership in congress. Lets face it - it would be hard for them to do any worse.

Frankly, Pelosi was not the problem. We Democratic voters were the problem. Our young people like to take off during the midterms. Well, this country as we know it will not last long if they don't take responsibility for regaining all that we have lost in the past 20 years. We have fewer union members and fewer benefits for families than at any time since the 50's. People my age have allowed themselves to be divided and so, easily conquered. I remember when I graduated from high school in 1955, I had so much hope for my country. I have given up. I hear calls for "taking back my country". Who are you going to take it back from. I see voting rights eliminated and very few people say enough. I see young black men and boys shot to death and there is no major uprising, they are demonized as thugs who deserved what they got. Teachers are blamed for the failing public school system when the problem lies with communities who cannot or will not support public education. I could go on and on but I'm tired.

A number of the things you note are things that stand out to me, too.

How in the world the people of this country just don't give a shit how the republicans relentlessly chip away at the right to vote is beyond my ability to conceive.

I served on school board, and I lost my romantic notion of teachers in some ways, but it beyond absurd that the real issues with education in this country have somehow become focused solely on teachers getting paid professional wages is absurd.

I don't go back as far as you do, my younger adult years were in the 90s.

I was at a complete loss for how people I knew who were otherwise good, decent and caring people gobbled up Rush Limbaugh AM radio like they did, and just was a loss how republicans hated a good president who was likeable with such searing hot rage, and how the media channeled completely nonsensical republican bullshit as fact.

Did not get how people managed to elected a hapless son of priviledge as president over a decent and intelligent man cause they "would like to have a beer" with the moron.

Rode out 2000 to 2008, resentful of being cast as hating America for knowing Iraq was a lie and disaster waiting to happen.

Had hope after 06 and 08, but 2010 was the breaking point.

No reason to give republican's any power at all, but because this president had the temerity to try to do SOMETHING to improve the health care system, the geniuses of this country gave the republicans the biggest mid term win since they gave the republicans the win 94.

In the last four years I have come to find that what was so shocking to me in the 90s now still exists and is EVEN WORSE with how republicans think and act, even more institutionalized how the media promotes their bullshit and the people of this country even MORE gulliable and wiling to go along with their stupidity.

I am VERY sober, and don't foresee this country getting a clue in my life.

ALL that said, while I like Nancy Pelosi, it is time to get someone else in there with some fire in their belly.
