The poll showed that when likely California voters were asked whether they would vote for or against 18 prominent possible candidates in 2016, 49 percent of likely California voters said they would be inclined to support Rice, a Republican.
Rice's support was significantly stronger among likely Republican voters, with almost three-quarters saying they would back her. The next closest Republican candidate, former State Senator Phil Wyman, saw only 51 percent support from Republicans.
California Attorney General Kamala Harris, who is a Democrat and the only person listed in the poll who has formally announced they are running, saw the most support of any Democrat, with about three-quarters of likely voters in her party saying they would back her.
Bring. It. On. "Ms. Rice, do you have any comments about the war crimes issue?"

(2,188 posts)No, I'm not a gun nut. Whether I or you agree with her on that issue is irrelevant. It's outside of the mainstream of most people. Condi has a 45% chance of winning against her. She's evil but she's the brains of the Shrub Administration. I'm worried.

(19,348 posts)I do want to comment about her support for banning guns in SF though. It seems the standard center right position is to disarm minority communities. King Bloomberg is working towards the same goal. I believe we have too many guns on the street. At the same time, I will NEVER support a unilateral disarmament of civilians only.

(2,188 posts)But either way, he too would have a tough time winning a state-wide election in CA because of that position. My opinion is the same as yours, we have too many guns and need more requirements for getting permits, but no outright bans. Maybe you're right though, and it won't hurt her chances.

(78,249 posts)We needed a repuke vote to pass the budget. Sen. Abel Maldonado gladly provided one, with the open primary as his pound of flesh.

(45,319 posts)choices, a shallow bench, while Democrats are strongly but not entirely behind Harris because there are a few excellent options available to Democrats.
Kamala Harris will be elected Senator from California.
