Jeb Bush’s dubious new pitch: ‘I am my own man’

http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/jeb-bushs-dubious-new-pitch-i-am-my-own-man

Two weeks ago, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) delivered a big speech on his economic vision, which was pretty underwhelming. Today in Chicago, the likely Republican presidential candidate moves on to Phase II, fleshing out his perspective on foreign policy.

Bush’s speech won’t begin for a couple of hours, though advance excerpts suggest we should expect a rather boilerplate set of remarks from the former governor with no background in international affairs. Last week, the Floridian said, “I won’t talk about the past…. If I’m in the process of considering the possibility of running, it’s not about re-litigating anything in the past,” but today he’ll apparently spend a fair amount of time condemning the past six years....

The New York Times reported over the weekend, for example, that Jeb Bush spent much of his adult life taking advantage of his family connections to advance his interests and ambitions. In Florida, people went out of their way to get close to Bush in the hopes that he’d relay messages and suggestions to his powerful relatives – which he routinely did....

Specifically on the issues of foreign policy and national security, Jeb Bush has assembled a team of advisers to help bring him up to speed. The campaign released a list that included his father’s Secretary of State (James Baker), his brother’s Deputy Defense Secretary (Paul Wolfowitz), his brother’s National Security Adviser (Stephen Hadley), a variety of members from his brother’s cabinet (Tom Ridge and Michael Chertoff).

but he brings in all the warmongers and liars who served for Bush Senior and Bush the Lesser. Will Darth Cheney still be pulling the strings on a third Bush puppet?

Any plans to bring in Rumsfeld, Feith, Negroponte, Bybee, Yoo and the rest of the war criminals? How about Colin Powell and Condi Rice?

Because he is a *ush-idiot. His idiot brother was two IQ points smarter than a tree stump and still managed to sit in the WH for 8 years.
Say want you want but a lot of Americans identify with stupid people. Rmoney didnt work because he was a rich, self-entitled asshole. Don't get me wrong, so is any *ush but most don't make that connection. Stupid is different. People want someone just like them. Some mumbling and stumbling goof is more identifiable (see duck dynasty).
Dont dismiss this idiot or walker. they are morons but they morons with money, means and a dump truck full of stupid that makes them make sense to an average voter.

I used to have this idealistic notion that the public would get behind the smartest, most decent person more often than not.

What I have seen in my time, and having been in the mix a good bit, is that people do just what you noted - the either self identify OR they vote down to their idea of a politician.

Really, you are at a DISADVANTAGE in politics to be smart and honest.

People want to hear what they want to hear and they want to "like" their pols more than they want competency and integrity.

The Media sold Bush to America

By now a lot of the electorate should sense that intuitive happening that our media system is so complicit corrupt and screwed up many would sit down and listen to some of the Democratic past candidates make some historical insider predictions.

The media is biased to make money and likely shift it back into under the table soft money laundry system going on now. Every time one of those portable cable interviews happen they should be checked for loads of green back dollars in big chucky bags stashed in the vans.

Because previous candidates have that lobbyist eigenvalue knowing experienced liars cheaters and party switchers or dealing with that bag person, people that are in it for the immediate hard cash. That’s only way win and to ditch the money trail, via the outside mobile television money trucks are the way to do it.
