GOP Descends Into Madness As Ted Cruz Vaults Into Top Tier Of 2016 GOP Candidates

PoliticusUSA

A Public Policy Polling (PPP) national survey conducted from March 26-31, 2015 shows Ted Cruz pulling into contention with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, for the GOP presidential nomination. The survey, released on April 1st, but apparently not as an April Fool’s joke, shows Ted Cruz gaining ground on the leaders, and sitting in a strong third place position for the Republican nomination. His presidential announcement speech at Liberty University appears to have resonated with Republican voters.

Cruz has surged from 5 percent support a little over a month ago, to 16 percent now. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker still leads with 20 percent support. Jeb Bush is in second at 17 percent and Ted Cruz is at 16 percent. Ben Carson and Rand Paul sit at 10 percent each. Four other candidates (Marco Rubio, Mike Huckabee, Chris Christie, and Rick Perry) remain mired in the single digits.

actually meant something. Imagine how easy it would be to get Democrats to the polls if this lunatic won the GOP nomination.

I remember Michelle Bachmann and Herman Cain were also leading for awhile early in the contest.

I think all the clowns in 2012 took turns being the leader, then crashed and burned until only Mittens was in the running. Same thing this time around, but which idiot will be left is still the question?

This happened the last two times, and the more "moderate" and name candidate in McCain and Romney was what was left standing.

I think this points to Jeb here.

If it is a smaller field, less than half a dozen, Cruz COULD win.

But,the more completely off the hook clown show candidates that come in, the more they take votes from one another.

Walker sort of has that milquetoast veneer of being a moderate, so maybe he takes votes from Jeb.

But, still just think Jeb will have the name and money to ride it out while the fringe candidates take votes from one another.

The republicans have virtually unlimited campaign money. The Democrats have to counter that somehow.

The election is effectively a forced choice -- if you don't choose someone will choose for you. Furthermore, it's effectively a choice between 2 candidates.

The argument has been made by others, and I agree with the premise, that among all of the GOP candidates on stage only Cruz can stand up and say that he alone stood firm against Barack Obama and the liberal agenda to destroy America. All of the other GOP candidates will have to equivocate. Cruz could win this.

I also think that the phenomenon of the GOP pushing the Democratic Party to the right ends with Ted Cruz. His philosophy and politics are so illiberal, harmful, and extreme that he just might finally push Democrats to the left.

is that all the extreme RW candidates had the lead for a short time until they opened their mouth and spewed nonsense. They would then go down and be replaced by the next one until Mitt was the one left standing.

This time, this pattern will probably repeat with one caveat. Ted Cruz is insane but he is also very smart. I am not sure he will be so easy to unseat by a more moderate republican (like Jeb who passes for a moderate these days).

I am worried that most the american public being uninformed and frankly not too bright would fall for his bombastic deilvery and actually vote for him over the democrat. To us who follow politics closely, it is pretty obvious Cruz would be a disaster. However, many people will just go to the polls and vote for the GOP guy no matter what without thinking about the consequences.
