Frank Capra summarized the GOP strategy via Mr. Potter. Steal the money = total obstruction.

Then call the police to have George Bailey arrested = blaming Obama for the impacts of their own "crimes" of obstruction.

(I think this is a form of what Thom Hartmann calls the two Santa Clause theory)

Amazing how a movie made so long ago so accurately captured the personality of the republicans.

How to get to "It's a Wonderful Life" - the ending? Defeating Walker today would be a good start.

getting everyone to blame Obama/the Democrats is working. In fact, it seems to always work for Republicans. Jimmy Carter got blamed for things that he didn't do and it worked! Even Democrats distance themselves from Carter.

in what happens in a Red or Swing state. Nothing could be further from the truth. Blue states suffer when Red states vote against their best interests because the people are typically poor. Blue states subsidize Red states, whether it be redistribution through farm subsidies or through Medicaid maintence of effort. I'm not being selfish here. I really do care that people vote what's in their best interests, but the social issues are winners and there is cognitive dissonance, not to mention a powerful propaganda machine posing as mainstream media. It's not just Faux News; it's also MSNBC, CNN, and all the other Corporate-Owned networks. It's local media as well. Everyone chasing after Faux, afraid of being labeled "liberal."

It's so frustrating. And the most frustrating is coming here on DU and listening to Democrats succumb to this propaganda, either by unknowingly touting falsehoods (e.g., Obama cutting $500 million from Medicare) or by not understanding how governing works.
