Rick Klein: "The presidential race has been essentially tied for an uncommon length of time. No dynamic -- not glum economic news, not a special election loss, not a series of off-message surrogates -- has been able to shake that."
"But over the last two months, even as national polls have shown little movement in the race, something different has been happening in the battleground states. It's as if there's a parallel campaign in the states that are likely to determine the presidency, one with its own rhythms and realities."
"In those states, President Obama has been pulling ahead. The gaps aren't huge, but taken together, the numbers strongly suggest that Democrats' relentless attacks on Mitt Romney's business record at Bain Capital have been taking a toll."

(7,403 posts)Romney has been waiting for the Supreme Court to do his dirty work for him and got caught flat-footed with both the Arizona immigration setback and the Affordable Act being declared Constitutional for the most part. Romney has no Plan B on immigration now that most of the Arizona law has been repealed by the Supreme Court. And Romney is tongue-tied on what he would do to replace popular features in ACA, like closing the Medicare doughnut hole, no lifetime caps, no pre-existing conditions exception and kids being allowed to stay on their parents insurance until their 26th birthday. Romney can't add any of those without adding to the deficit. So far his strategy is to avoid the major media and do his talking in places like Drudge Report and Breitbart.com, hoping the major media will dutifully pass those lies on without opportunity to cross-examine. All of this has put Romney back on his heels and looking ineffective.

(38,958 posts)Many folks are more involved with their own lives and Presidential politics is not the highest thing on their agenda. Frankly after the absurdly long media driven joke of the GOP Primaries, I really don't blame them.
