but more importantly they are solid democrats who were raised in San Antonio by a community organizer (it is their grandmother that came from Mexico nearly a century ago). They were exceptional students, attended Stanford, and then Harvard Law. Julian has the charisma and as you probably know was a very popular mayor and now running HUD.

If Hillary does end up being the nominee I don't think she could find a better VP candidate, and I like him for president as well although he may seem young (he will be 42 next year). I'm a huge fan.

There's a fine line between authenticity and pandering. On paper it's a very strong pick though.

"He's Hispanic and has a beautiful smile! Perfect!"

Honestly I'd have preferred Beto O'Rourke, but he probably needs more seasoning. He speaks fluent spanish and does great work in the El Paso district. But I'm not the guy they need to be polling on a Hispanic VP pick, which is kinda my point.

but I read that he was taking lessons so it's not fluency since birth or anything like that. I believe it was his grandmother that immigrated from Mexico.

He would make a fantastic VP for whomever ends up being the nominee.

It doesn't matter what we think of the pick. I care about what the working class Hispanic community thinks of him, above all else.

If they like him, I'm all for it! Their voice is 100x more important than yours or mine on this issue.

talked up as a VP contender? It's an honor.. but Julian Castro gave an excellent answer!

"That's very flattering, who wouldn't be flattered to hear that?" he said. "But I have learned in life that the best thing you can do to create a great future for yourself is don't forget what's in front of you. And so I'm trying to do a great job at HUD."

Thank you, K and Julian Castor~
