2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumCorrect me if am wrong! Why is Hilary only appealing to women voters?
She seems as if only women will get her elected. Men like her too but I want to add this, she is facing opposition from Mr. Sanders and trust me, she will use his words against him, that he is a Democratic Socialist!

(5,704 posts)It is not science. A lot of women find that she is not honest. Apart from that, if she is the nominee, you all have to vote for her in my opinion. A Republican, Donald Trump, is not a viable option.
I was hoping Mr. Biden would step in but due to family concerns, he may not. Mr. Sanders seems like an option, but who knows if he will get elected.

Keep well and I hope you and your Husband get through his illness.

(12,655 posts)but there have been a lot of.....suggestions, demands, etc in other threads that we all better fall in line if hillary is the nom. while i agree that you can throw a dart in any room and hit someone better than trump, many of us do not like the idea that we are basically being told who to vote for. not you necessarily. you will come across it eventually and you might see what i mean.
cheers

(5,704 posts)the US, but so far, Mrs. Clinton is not selling herself. Frankly, I think Americans are sick and tired of the Bushes and the Clintons. God help us if Trump gets the nomination on the Repub side, then the whole North America is screwed. Trump is an idiot and made for TV, he is not a representative of the American people!

(12,655 posts)i believe enough people would make the right choice.
and as much as i loathe trump, the idea that the kochs and other big money players would be completely impotent during the process gives me a smile

(50,414 posts)And, it's not about gender, we both voted for a woman for president in 2012.

(5,704 posts)if her opponent is Trump, please vote for her. She would be much better than Trump in my opinion. That's all!

(9,497 posts)Hillary has lots of supporters who are men, women and transgender. The second sentence has little to do with your title.
I will leave you to it...

(5,704 posts)she is always appealing to women voters. Hence my issue with her alienating male voters.

(12,655 posts)attracts a lot of female, voters, esp many who grew up fighting hard for womens rights. it is hard to fault them for wanting to see a woman in the top job. otoh, it has to be the right candidate first, and she just isn't it imo.

(5,704 posts)However, Mrs. Clinton is looking for a coronation and that she is entitled, she is not entitled. I do not find her trust worthy and I feel lots of Americans share my view. However, if she is the nominee, please vote for her, as a Republican will undo all the progress that President Obama managed to get through.

(3,967 posts)I think you meant why is she making appeals more to women voters, rather than why do more women find her appealing.

(3,967 posts)I said "I think what you meant to say" - Please do not tell me what to think! You said what you said, and I am free to try to make sense of it. From my title, you can tell that I wasn't even sure what you meant. If you meant something, you could clarifiy it, if you meant to be ambiguous, you could say that. Or you could say nothing or you could say something totally unrelated. It's up to you.

She hasn't appealed to me since I saw this in 1992, with this oxymoronish claim:

(6,262 posts)And one was a huge HRC fan in '08. The rest even say they hate her. And the say that with vehemence. And these are Dem voters.
They really believe she is a liar and untrustworthy even tho they acknowledge she is being unfairly held to different standards. They prefer Joe well over Bernie and worry greatly about the general election.
Among the women in my mostly white metro suburban group of friends around 60 years old, all support her, but also say they do not really like her or trust her.
Corporatism is near the top of the worries, but her defensiveness and clumsy campaign responses are also very worrying.
I really really want to support her with enthusiasm, but am not there yet. I chose Obama over her quite early in the 08 campaign and would choose him again if I could.

(3,811 posts)She and most of her friends will have absolutely no problem voting for Hillary Clinton. My mom is not an unreflective person, but she does not get wrapped up in the minutia of some of the kinds of questions that roil through DU.
My wife is not a political junkie like me. She thinks Hillary Clinton is sort-of cold and aloof. She will however vote for Hillary without any problems.
Myself, I like Hillary Clinton. She seems warm, friendly and possessed of good humor. Of course, when she's staring at a panel of GOP inquisitors, she's sharp and fierce. I believe she shares many, but by no means all, of my ethics. Some of the places we don't agree are pretty major, such as questions of war and peace and the relationship between business and government. She's not the radical that I am.
But those are honest disagreements. I don't dislike her over them. I could easily vote for her, although I'd prefer someone closer to my outlook. Bernie Sanders is closer. His strong stand against corporate power and big money would be good for the country, I believe. But Bernie isn't perfect in my book either. No one is.
I think I'd like to vote for Captain Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Society.
