Back in 2007 Senator Obama spent a day as a home health care worker (updated)

Last edited Mon Jul 30, 2012, 02:48 AM - Edit history (4)

Back in 2007 Senator Obama spent the morning in a home of an elderly man: sweeping/mopping the floor, making his bed, making his breakfast, doing the laundry, etc.
The first video below shows Senator Obama working in the home - and the second video is an update.

Walk a day in my shoes: Barack Obama/Pauline Beck

Here's a two page article and SEVEN PHOTOS regarding Obama's day of volunteering...

A Promise Kept: Pauline and Homecare Workers

In 2007 then-Senator Barack Obama spent a day with Pauline Beck, a homecare worker. He worked alongside her, getting to know the daily life and concerns of a homecare worker. Now, as President, he has taken action that will require homecare workers recieve at least a minimum wage and overtime protections - which many were previously exempt from.

Something that Rmoney would NEVER do!

Edited to add the first 2007 VIDEO - I found it

Home care workers are some of the most undervalued people in America. I think it's pretty typical to see them making about $9/hr while Medicare pays their agency I think over $30/hr. The agency takes most of the money. And some of them can not afford to put shoes on their kids' feet or put gas in the car to get to work. They do need a raise.

True, something Mitt would never even think to do.

... and absolutely believable.

The difference between the two couldn't be more stark. It's hard to believe that there are people who support Romney over somebody who really, genuinely wants to know how people live.

In a commercial ... they could ask him all sorts of questions, and his answer would be:

"I'm running for President, for Pete's Sake . . . . . ."

I hope anyone new to 'this' thread will take the time to read the article you posted.

I think it's great that President Obama has been keeping in touch with Pauline Beck,
and keeping his promise too

"Fair Labor Standards Act starting in January 2015" came about, too, Tx. Including, the encouraging info on our new Labor Sec, Thomas Perez.

And, she's going to the White House!
