Related: About this forumAlan Grayson: Who will win the first Democratic Presidential Debate?
There is, however, one debate that I can abate, deflate and negate, right now. And that is the debate between principles and effectiveness.
Im not taking sides, but let me tell you something about Bernie Sanders that you probably didnt know. He served for 16 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, and for much of that time, Bernie passed more amendments on the Floor of the House than any other Member of the House. Thats right: the one Member who belonged to neither party passed more amendments than any Member who belonged to either party. Good, solid progressive amendments. Lots of them.
He was principled, and he was effective.

(14,733 posts)- that he has no accomplishments for all his years in Congress. Usually at the same time we're being flooded with lists of Hillary Clinton's 'accomplishments', many of which are simply being given awards for keeping herself in the spotlight and tying herself to various charitable issues.

(62,325 posts)That's what all the dirty money buys. LIES and words like 'demogoguery' aimed at a candidate who has never, ever engaged in anything but the truth.
We need to keep this in mind. Never be fooled or intimidated by the liars' bold claims. They lie. That's all we need to know about them: they lie.

(6,994 posts)And the news print those connections are sometimes called on for favors and will respond to the individuals request and even stretch the truth and alter the real facts. This has happen on several occasions especially since Bernie Sanders has proven that he is in the nominating process to win and in fact very capable of winning.Whether that media is a Generic or a well established news organization they do so then will argue like hell the facts are correct knowing full well they aren't.

(11,945 posts)Grayson is a true progressive, a fellow legislator, and he knows what he's talking about.
What he said is as good as an endorsement.
