Bernie Sanders rejects donation from ‘poster boy for drug company greed’ Martin Shkreli

After bashing him, Turin Pharmaceuticals CEO Martin Shkreli donated money to Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) presidential campaign — only to be rebuffed, Stat reported.

“We are not keeping the money from this poster boy for drug company greed,” said campaign spokesperson Michael Briggs.

Instead, Briggs said, the $2,700 Shkreli donated — the maximum individual donation allowed under electoral guidelines — will be given to the Whitman-Walker health clinic in Washington.

Shkreli, who was hit with widespread criticism last month after he raised the price for the medication Daraprim from $13.50 a pill to $750 a pill, told Stat that he backs some of Sanders’ other policy proposals, but made the donation because he wanted to meet with him privately and “explain” how pharmaceutical companies set their prices. He also said that he would ask the senator what prices he would consider fair.

You can't rationalize that away. Taking that money is the definition of evil. Hope people are ok with their conscience because they are handing the presidency to a crazy republican. I know too many democrats who refuse to vote for her. Whine all you want but she supports war crimes abroad and at home. She is the Bushes favorite democrat so go stick your head in the sand some more. Looks like America is screwed because of this self-entitled liar. Any democrat could win. Omalley, Sanders, Webb even. A ham sandwich could win. But watch Hillarys negatives ruin it. And if she wins expect the Bush policies to still control us.

Let's be clear, that CEO is a jackass. I truly want him in jail. I'm serious about that too!

My original question stands: Do I have to be completely in agreement with Bernie for him to accept my money?

I'm with Bernie on some things. I'm oppose to him some other points, but overall I support him. Heck I reject some liberal ideals and Democratic party platforms, but I'll never vote Repuke.

I think purity tests for either party's candidates are asinine and counter productive. Now, purity tests for donors?

Where on earth would you ever get such an idea?

Is that a new meme?

If you think Bernie expects his donors to agree with him on everything you obviously know nothing about the man.

Donate to him or not, that's up to you.

As for me I couldn't admire his decision to donate Shkreli's money to a free clinic for AIDS/HIV patients anymore if I tried.

It's poetic justice.

An attempt to trap Bernie and call him a greedy hypocrite. "He talks big but he'll take anybody's money! This receipt I got here is proof!"

Similar to the James O'Keefe entrapment schemes.

And very odd of BS to reject a vote. Oh well.

Really interesting that some people are not pure enough to vote for/donate to BS. He does not then want to represent us all as POTUS. To win, he needs enough pure voters.

"Still, Shkreli said he likes some of Sanders’ views. He said he is neither a Democrat nor a Republican, and believes both parties have good ideas. But he said he supports Sanders’ call for free public college for everyone, as well as better access to mental health care."

"He also said he could support Jeb Bush, who seems “reasonable” to him."

To decline the donation because of who it came from, especially when it is an individual.

Leaving it at $13.50 a pill would be a fair price.

The campaign committee has two options:

1. Return the check to the donor uncashed.
2. Accept the donation, cash the check, and make a donation to the clinic of $2700.

Based on the third sentence in the article, I presume they're opting for #2.

Or arranged for someone to beat the hell out of him before he got to the meeting.

And i'm only slightly joking. thats what this guy needs. the only thing that will have an effect on him is for him to be SCARED. And apparently the govt isnt going to put any fear in him; he's been reported many times over the past 5 yrs and the SEC et al, have done NOTHING to him
