I really wish people would stop saying

that "Bernie or bust" is the same thing as "I'll never vote for Clinton."

It's getting absolutely ridiculous, and I'm getting sick and tired of seeing a certain candidate's supporters use it to try to get good DUers banned.

"I'll never vote for Clinton" and "I'll only support Bernie" are not the same thing. Those words are entirely different. Different sentences.

It's against the TOS to advocate not voting for the Democratic nominee, which is exactly what "I'll never vote for Clinton" would mean should Clinton become the nominee.

"I'll only support Bernie", on the other hand, is a completely different sentence. Different words and everything.

Saying "I'll never support Clinton even if she was the nominee" would be a violation of the TOS.

"I'll only support Bernie" using entirely different words. It's not saying "I'll never support Clinton."

Unfortunately, there are some people here who who say they won't support the nominee and actually won't. As we explained above, our feeling is that we want to give people the benefit of the doubt. But if you convince us that you actually mean it and you really aren't going to support the nominee, then we're going to treat you like you actually mean it. That person who started the OP telling people to sign the pledge that they won't support the Democratic nominee was very convincing, and is no longer a member of DU.

They consulted the stone of zanzibar and decreed that indeed they saw an honest man.

The “Bernie or Bust” pledge’s goal is to have one million Americans say that even if Bernie doesn’t win the Democratic Party’s nomination, they will write him in as their candidate in 2016. Make your voice heard and join the Bernie Sanders movement!

is based on him losing.

But i think most of those are more anti Clinton than pro Sanders anyways.

11. Oh wow, I didn't know that. I love Bernie Sanders, but that's just wrong.

Anybody who wants to divide the party and help get a Republican elected is not ethical. My assumption is that Bernie himself did not think this up, but he needs to denounce it, in my opinion.

That the statement is sexist.

Although now, someone probably will. Thank me later!

Is because they lack the imaginative linguistic acuity. Not because they wouldnt be willing to pull such a blatantly disingenuous move.

If you want to lecture me about the TOS, you're wasting your time. Ive already said i am voting for the nominee, like I do every 4 years.

doesnt mean i need to take certain folks' low-valence bs any more seriously than it deserves.
