The GOP War on Women will be in Full Stride in Tampa this Week
Todd Akin is not the only Republican who questions the legitimacy of rape, and if you don't believe there is a War on Women, think again. Just down the street from the GOP convention, there's a GOP Prayer Rally where one of the featured speakers believes married women give up the right to say no. In March 2007, Phllis Schlafly said in a speech at Bates College, "By getting married, the woman has consented to sex, and I don't think you can call it rape." Here's a few more quotes from the Prayer Rally featured speaker. "Sex education classes are like in-home sales parties for abortions" and "Sexual harassment on the job is not a problem for virtuous women.
Her's an idea how another anti-women featured speaker sees things. But the Lord says, 'Be submissive wives; you are to be submissive to your husbands." -Rep. Michele Bachmann, recalling in a 2006 speech at a Megachurch in Minneapolis that pursuing tax law wasn't her choice, but she did so at the urging of her husband because she was certain God was speaking through him.
