2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumCrist may be persona non grata in 'his own party,' but polls show he'd beat Rick Scott like a drum!
Politico's Ken Vogel just maintained on The Cycle that Charlie Crist no longer had any influence in Florida. I beg to differ.
'14 Fla Gov Poll: Charlie Crist 48 percent, Rick Scott 34%
Wayne Bertsch sends us this intriguing May 23-25 statewide poll of registered voters by (MoE +/- 3.46%) Florida Opinion Research, asking about a Crist vs Scott match up (Assuming Crist runs as a Democrat and wins the nomination).
Rick Scott 34.1%
Charlie Crist 48.1%
Other 5.0%
Don't Know/Refused 12.8%
To break the numbers down, obviously Republicans stick with Gov. Scott at 60.3% and garnering only 21.6 of the unaffiliated voters. The pop factor is that Gov. Charlie Crist grabs 74.2% of the Democrat vote and 52.2% of the unaffiliated voters.
A few other breakdowns of interest:African-Americans - 88.1% support CristWhite's - 43.4% Crist, 39.4% ScottHispanic - 37.9% Scott, 35.3 Crist, while 23% stated Do Not Know.
Gender: Crist leads Men 45% to Scott's 39%. Women 51% support Crist to Scott's 30%.
As for Age breakdowns, Crist led all categories: 18-29: 52% to 27%; 30-44: 44% to 38%; 45-59: 55% to 28%; 60+: 45% to 38%

I hope he runs in 2014, I think he'd win quite easily.
I think he would've beated Rubio in 2010, if we could've gotten Meek to drop out

(26,184 posts)Crist ran as an independent for the Senate, after pulling out of the Republican primary race--as Rubio was polling 20 points ahead of him.
Rubio is a very slick, popular politician who would have made Florida very competitive for Romney. It makes you wonder if there's not something about Rubio we don't yet know about--or Romney's not very good at picking a VP.

(26,184 posts)As you can see, Kendrick and Meek split the vote. Crist obviously got Democratic votes.
