Basic questions: why shouldn't we assume that a HRC nomination...

...would mean that, for the rest of eternity, only the choice of the center-right party establishment will be the Democratic presidential nominee?

Why shouldn't we assume it would mean the grassroots will never regain a real say in the running of this party and in what it stands for?

In other words, why shouldn't we see a HRC nomination as the end of history within the Democratic Party?

Those are major concerns for anyone who calls herself or himself a progressive.

10. There is no fence keeping people to the right of the Dem party, only a fear of losing

Fear isn't an emotion that motivates liberalizing progress, it's one that promotes conservatism and caution.

Fear of losing is why since back spring the message has been Sanders -can't- win. That meme engages that fear.

It's also why there is so much gnashing of teeth questioning the left's voting intentions...the right side of the party can't win without the left side and darn well knows it.

We're told to abandon childish hope of progress, to abandon the fundamental democratic concept of voting -for- candidates and policies we most prefer, and to vote, as a matter of fearful defense, -against- the republicans who will be worse.

I am always suspect of folks who want to substitute their will for the will of the majority, no matter how well intentioned they are.

13. Who are "we?" I don't assume anything

like you said. I assume that every time we have an election, new people arise as candidates. I assume that everyone is part of the grassroots and their opinions matter. I assume that the candidate who gains the most support by Democrats will be the nominee.

Those are some of the things I assume. You have your own mind and your own assumptions.
