Democrats like Hillary Clinton much more than Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a new poll finds.
Clinton has a 29-point lead over Sanders in favorability among self-identified Democrats surveyed, according to a Washington Post/ABC News survey released Friday.
Clinton has an 83 percent favorability rating, versus 54 percent for Sanders. The front-runner's unfavorability is at 14 percent, with Sanders at 25 percent. Another 3 percent have no opinion of the former first lady, with 21 percent having no opinion of Sanders.
Sanders is enjoying an 18-point increase in popularity since this summer among Democrats but still trails far behind Clinton.
Sanders has lagged behind Clinton across multiple national polls most of the year in the race for the Democratic nomination, despite drawing large crowds at his campaign rallies.
Clinton currently commands a nearly 22-point lead over the Vermont senator, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls, with 54.2 percent to Sanders's 32.6.

(42,862 posts)I eagerly await the input of those who will lecture you on how scientific polls from reputable polling organizations are not to be trusted because only x-hundred people were questioned, and because x-hundred is fewer than the actual number of Democratic primary voters, it can't possibly be accurate.
But, in contrast, multi-vote online polls, and twitter hashtag retweet counts, and Facebook shares, and Google searches, and in-studio focus groups, and polls in the Bernie Sanders DU group ARE an accurate representation of the country because, well ... just BECAUSE!

(5,761 posts)Do you know that over 40% of American's don't have a landline which polls are conducted off of?
Do you know that 90% of American's have a smartphone?
Are you aware that facebook sponsored the first presidential debate and millions of American's use it along with twitter?
As of January 2014, 74% of American's use social media. That's a larger audience than people who own landline telephones.
Old media is dead.

(146,317 posts)so it is seeming less and less likely that Bernie will be involved in the General Election race at all, except as an endorser of Hillary.
Right now, it's the primaries that matter, so your point probably isn't pertinent, really.

(5,761 posts)because the polls with Hillary in a general are within the margin of error of her losing to a Republican.
You have to look at the bigger picture. Right now all we're doing is picking sides in a game of kick ball.

(2,074 posts)She's a lifelong Dem (except for a short while in high school, and you can't hold anyone's high school silliness against them).
Bernie is not.
(I do think Bernie is quite loveable. But he's been a Dem for all of 5 minutes.)
