Clinton has early, commanding delegate lead for nomination

http://www.kcrg.com/subject/news/politics/election/democratic-presidential/clinton-has-early-commanding-delegate-lead-for-nomination-20151113

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton has locked up public support from half of the Democratic insiders who cast ballots at the party’s national convention, giving her a commanding advantage over her rivals for the party’s presidential nomination.

Clinton’s margin over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley is striking. Not only is it big, but it comes more than two months before primary voters head to the polls — an early time in the race for so many of the people known as superdelegates to publicly back a candidate.

snip

The Associated Press contacted all 712 superdelegates in the past two weeks, and heard back from more than 80 percent. They were asked which candidate they plan to support at the convention next summer.

The results:

• Clinton: 359.

• Sanders: 8.

• O’Malley: 2.

• Uncommitted: 210.

My feelings are not mixed on Superdelegates. I understand why they exist, but it seems like a slippery slope to give so few voices so much power.

It should be noted that in August Clinton's camp claimed to have ~440 superdelegates in their corner. (Source).

Think about that. Clinton's camp claimed they had over 440 superdelegates lined up before the first debate. That is not democracy for the people as a whole and that pisses me off. It is everything that is wrong with politics.

I say get rid of the Superdelegate system. One voice, one vote.

Hillary is still not taking anything for grante. Is not sitting sipping tea and eating crumpets. She is working damn hard to get her messages out, visitng and listening locally, she is paying attention, networking and building and maintaining a good working relationship with peers, unions etc. She has worked hard for and has earned everything that she is getting.

Hillary had superdelegates galore in 2008 until they bolted for Barack!

It's amazing how those superdelegates shift as the voters go and actually vote.
