Would it be too much to ask that he prove it?

(4,551 posts)As Bill Maher said on one of his recent shows, the media should be pointing out that Mitt giving to the Mormon Church does not really count as a charitable donation.
As a Mormon he is obligated to give 10%. Not only that but it is more of a political donation since it's part of his voting base.
It's not the same as giving to cancer research or a sick children's hospital.

(5,052 posts)You can't get into a Mormon temple to do a little dead dunking unless you are a fully paid up member of the cult. Most of the money collected is invested in shopping malls and condos, spent on public relations hiding inconvenient historical truths, or bankrolling anti-gay legislation. Only a small portion of the money ever goes to helping the poor.

(2,711 posts)And here I thought Mitt's "Religious Freedom" argument was because he was underdonating on the 10% mandate. With the approval of church elders.

(5,810 posts)How the heck does Huckabee know the percentage of charitable donations Mitt and Ann make annually? Since they have not seen fit to release their return for 2011, I am pretty sure we don't know with certainty the answer to that. And besides, according to what Mitt said when asked about what he paid in taxes, he evidently thought that by including his charitable donations with his tax payments, it actually increased what he paid in TAXES. Dumb ass. And he calls himself a businessman.
