I got a bad feeling about this one.

The utter arrogance and brazen dishonesty by Romney, Ryan and the rest of the Republicans is giving me a very bad feeling. I'm concerned that with Citizens United, voter suppression, Diebold/ESS/Sequoia and their other frauds they know they've got this one locked up.

I don't know how else to explain their public dishonesty, outright racism and disdain for "you people".

We'd better get massive numbers to the polls in November, or we'll be screwed.

swayed by the rhetoric and propaganda. And on top of that all of the dishonesty, mega-millions, lies, distortions, misinformation, fraud and endless deception and shenanigans.

And, a lot of Americans have tuned out. Many people I've talked to are just fed up with America and the entire political process. They just don't give a damn.

This combination provides the foundation for the total end of democracy in the US and ushers in some very destructive forces. If, there is a Romney/Ryan win, many poor Americans not paying attention, those disenfranchised, those slapping their thighs and cheering on racism and bigotry will likely find themselves living in poverty down the road and many will continue to ...

The nation is under siege and I really think a lot of Americans are clueless as to what is going on with these shenanigans. They fall for all of the tricks.

I've been saying this now for quite some time.

This election is going to be very close and very tough for Democrats.

Rove-Rmoney-Kochs have a decided strategy.

They are simply not interested in persuading independents to vote for Rmoney -- this is a base election for them.

That is why Rmoney is staying hard right and actually not doing much 'etch-a-sketching' at his convention.

So, this election is now going to get very dirty ... the big lies have only just begun, the race baiting has just started.
They want to harden their base and make the whole affair so disgusting that marginal independent and Democratic voters just throw-up their hands in revulsion and stay home.

We haven't begun to see what the Rove-Koch 'Citizens United' money is going to do ... but they know. My hunch is that the direct mail to certain demographically determined white voters is going to be the most racially tinged propaganda that has ever been seen since the end of WW2.

And, finally, the voter suppression we have seen that they are attempting legally with voter ID laws is just what we have seen. Can you imagine what kind of dirty tricks they have up their sleeves that we won't find out about until election day?

All I can say is that the Democrats and Pres. Obama need to have a helluva convention next week and boldly and aggressively knock down Lord and Lady Rmoney and Lyin' Ryan. Barack Obama is going to need to shed the 'no drama Obama' persona and become Harry Truman.

The stakes are very high. If the Repuglicans and Tea Partiers win this election, then even the pretense of representative democracy in this country is done ... KKKarl Rove still has his dream of a "permanent Repuglican majority" and this time I believe they will use the power of laws to institute their hold on power.

Anyone who thinks this is going to be an easy path for Pres. Obama is dangerous because over-confidence will lose this election.

sometimes described as a "state party" because there was little difference between the party and the government. The used the levers of power to manipulate the vote and engaged in massive ballot-box stuffing.

If Romney wins this election, it will show that is possible for the rich to buy elections, and I suspect that this is the kind of thing we will be facing in the future. But unlike the modern GOP, the PRI did throw a few crumbs to the lower classes to stave off open revolt (e.g., price controls on staple foods and pharmeucuticals). The GOP seems disinclined to help anyone who isn't rich.

This would give rise to its own backlash in some form or another. I think the occupy movement was a very modest beginning to what would be cultivated under this form of governance.

Republicans' In this version, it is McCain and Palin who know it does not matter what they say or do, because 'the fix is in' and they don't need any independent votes, because of machines and oh, man I got a bad feeling, talk me down!
Every 4 Years:
"frankly, I believe that they know they don't NEED her help to get him elected because they've already got the election won . . . the fix is in, and whatever Palin does or doesn't bring to the ticket is therefore irrelvant . . ."

Paul Ryan gets up on stage, tells a few lies and suddenly it's non-stop hand wringing. Maybe you should take a lesson from Sgt. Barnes and toughen up a bit.

These threats are real, and anyone not concerned has their head in the sand. The blatant, arrogant dishonesty and disdain for the American People shown by the Republicans worries me.

I'm sorry, I guess that's not en vogue this week.

14. I feel like I am on an emotional roller coaster.

It changes from one day to the next, depending on things I see on TV or read online. Last night, watching the Republican convention, I had such a sinking feeling. The disgust I felt watching speaker after speaker tell one lie after another was palpable. I read polls that suggest that Obama will win this thing.....and I do not just look at polls but electoral college predictions, which is what matters. So I feel pretty good for a while. Then something like last night happens and I read POSITIVE comments on Facebook by people I know and who are relatives and I sink back to despair. I know I cannot reach these family members with facts that refute point by point what they heard last night. They do not want to believe they have heard lies. And I know they represent a sizable portion of the electorate.....enough to make a difference in the outcome.

The thing about it is that they will be HURT by the policies these mad men have in mind for us. I will be hurt. And I feel powerless to do one thing to change the tide....it almost feels inevitable.

I hope next week's Democratic Convention brings me back up on this roller coaster ride to November 6th. They have a huge mountain of lies to overcome and I just hope they bring it and expose the Repubs and especially Romney and Ryan. The truth is out there for anyone to find, but those not willing to see it will have to get their noses rubbed in it.....I just hope it's not too late for them to learn the truth. Come to think of it, isn't this what happened to a lot of Bush/Cheney supporters??? They had to learn the hard way how badly they were duped by those criminals. So maybe my fears are not too far off the mark that their "awakening" might come too late to save the rest of us. Auugghhhh! I hate this ride.......

I would stop watching and reading. But I have lots at stake in this matter. So I kind of feel like I need to stay informed about what is going on. I would love nothing more than to turn it all off and just wait for it to happen. I. JUST. CAN'T. DO. THAT. Maybe you can do that. Good for you. I can't since a Romney/Ryan "win" will change my life and not in a good way.

But it was pretty clear this was going to be "their week" for awhile now so I'm not sure why that is such a surprise to some.

My point is that if you have such a horrible reaction to it then perhaps it might be good to ration your exposure to these lunatics. Then, next week, when the good guys are up, you can go hog wild.

Sorry if my earlier response seemed a little glib.

So yeah, I agree with you that limiting some of their rhetoric and outright lies is one solution. And we did all know that they would have a rah-rah fest this week. I guess what was so stunning to me was the LEVEL of lies they have heaped on the pile this week. Not content to just tell us what they would do, they have spent most of this week dissing the other side. Very little substance.

Maybe I'll go for a walk today.....thanks for some rational advice.

I read your post where you think Obama can and will win. I believe he can and will win, too, IF the election is not stolen by voter suppression and shenanigans with the machines and tally. I also know personally some folks who think Romney and Ryan are GREAT for this country and can't be convinced that they have been misled.

So while I believe in the system as it is supposed to be, I also know it can be (and has been) corrupted. So with the combination of voter suppression and misleading voters, I fear they can rob Obama of his chance at a second term.
