Hillary Clinton for America Announces Alabama Leadership Council

Hillary Clinton for America Announces Alabama Leadership Council

Hillary for America announced the launch of its “Alabama Leadership Council”– a group of 60 elected officials, community, coalition and grassroots leaders who will help build a grassroots-driven volunteer team that will help Hillary to win the Alabama Primary on March 1st. Clinton’s Alabama campaign will be led by Congresswoman Terri Sewell, former Governor Jim Folsom, Jr., former Congressman Earl Hilliard, nearly two-thirds of the Alabama Democratic Legislature, Birmingham Mayor William Bell, and many others.

Leadership Council members share Clinton’s commitment to raising wages for the middle class instead of their taxes, defending and enhancing the Affordable Care Act, her commitment to protecting people’s right to vote, her passion for reforming the criminal justice system and her belief that cost should never be a barrier for students going to college and much more. You can learn more about Clinton’s agenda at https://www.hillaryclinton.com/issues/

“Hillary Clinton is the most qualified candidate to run for President, and I’m proud to join her Alabama team in order to bring more people into her campaign,” said Congresswoman Terri Sewell of Birmingham. “Hillary Clinton understands the needs of working families, and whether it’s her plan to make college more affordable, defend our voting rights, reform our criminal justice system, or help in raising incomes, it’s clear she is a proven fighter for underserved and underrepresented communities. Hillary Clinton shares the values of Alabama's 7th Congressional District, and I am confident in her ability to tackle the tough issues facing our nation.”

“It is with great pleasure that I both as Mayor of Birmingham and as a concerned citizen do wholeheartedly support the candidacy and the election of Hillary Rodham Clinton as president of the United States of America,” said Mayor William Bell of Birmingham. “Hillary Clinton has demonstrated that she has the knowledge and compassion to lead this country. To that end, I along with other political leaders are forming the Alabama Leadership Council to assist her in this noble effort to become the next president.”

“I was proud to see Hillary Clinton reaching out to the people of Alabama by coming to break bread with the Alabama Democratic Family,” said House Caucus Chair Darrio Melton of Selma. “Her dedication to working with Democrats even in deeply red states shows that she understands the weight and worth of each and every vote, and will be a president for all Americans."

“I am humbled and honored to serve on the Hillary for Alabama Leadership Council alongside so many other leaders and public servants from across the state,” said Grassroots Leader Leanne Townsend. “Hillary Clinton's legacy of fighting for women and children along with her commitment to strengthening the middle class through access to affordable health care and college education make her the obvious candidate to energize grassroots leaders and to begin to rebuild unity among the sometimes splintered Democrats of Alabama.”

Over the course of the campaign, the Alabama Leadership Council will continue to expand.

"Florida Leadership Council," "Alabama Leadership Council," and so on and so on. Every time I hear the permutation, it reminds me of "Democratic Leadership Council" (the almighty DLC) which sounds as nails-on-the-blackboard to me as "Homeland Security" does. Maybe Al From gets royalties from it.

Remember, the DLC/Third Way isn't held in the high regard -- that they think they so richly deserve -- by some on the more leftish end of the party.

Just optics. To me, it comes off as a little elitist. But I'm not losing any sleep over it.

...It's not bad optics because the average non-politics junkie has never heard of it.

HRC brings to the Presidency a massive base of supporters from all walks of life, who'll stand strong for her policies. HRC will never be hampered in creating a well functiong society the way Pres Obama was. The fascist GOP & their Teabagger horror show stopped Obama at every turn while he began cleaning up the hellhole GW Bush left him.
HRC is coming well prepared, with Congressional endorsements, strong coattails to shift the Senate & House balance of power to the Dems.

She brings her strong base, coming from every minority, union workers, youth, & aging & all in between.

She is a proven fighter of human rights & claims respect around the globe.

It is our good fortune to have Hillary Clinton as our brilliant strong 2016 Madam President.
I could not be more honored than to be standing on her side.
