Clinton, Bipartisan Senators Push for New War Powers Against ISIS

Snip>

Despite the recent failure of the United States' Syrian rebel training program, Hillary Clinton called for more elite U.S. forces to train moderate rebels, and joined a group of bipartisan senators calling for new military authorization in the war against ISIS.

Snip> Indicating support for arming Sunni and Kurdish fighters, Clinton said that “Baghdad needs to accept, even embrace, arming Sunni and Kurdish forces in the war against ISIS. But if Baghdad won’t do that, the coalition should do so directly.”

“One thing that I believe we haven’t done yet is make it clear to Baghdad that we are going to be arming Sunni tribes and Kurds if they don’t, because at some point, they have to be in the fight,” she later remarked

We armed "moderates" and the arms ended up in the hands of ISIS. It's a very risky, dangerous policy that almost never works and usually backfires.

what we should be AGAINST. War powers were put in the hands of Congress for good reason - so there could be vigorous, exhaustive debate prior to committing troops someplace.

We voted some nice war powers to W, and look where THAT got us.

Geez, Clinton. Bad move. I'm writing my senators immediately on this issue because this is THE WRONG DIRECTION.
