Paul Ryan And His Lies

Paul Ryan must have missed this part in Ayn Rand's book:

“People think that a liar gains a victory over his victim. What I’ve learned is that a lie is an act of self-abdication, because one surrenders one’s reality to the person to whom one lies, making that person one’s master, condemning oneself from then on to faking the sort of reality that person’s view requires to be faked…The man who lies to the world, is the world’s slave from then on…There are no white lies, there is only the blackest of destruction, and a white lie is the blackest of all.”
― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

[font color="teal" face="Verdana"]"If ever the pleasure of one has to be bought by the pain of the other, there better be no trade. A trade by which one gains and the other loses is a fraud."
-Rand, Atlas Shrugged

For all the demonizing I've seen of this book, there were some worthwhile gems in it. Maybe I just didn't read AS with a jaded enough outlook, since I never read any of Rand's other work.

[font color="teal" face="Verdana"]Beyond the fact that they both have heroes with some pretty good quotes, as well as villains with some pretty awful quotes, there's no equivalence.
