PPP: Obama leads 51-44 in Michigan

Not bad going into the convention in another of Romney's 'home states.':

A new Public Policy Polling survey in Michigan finds President Obama leading Mitt Romney by seven points, 51% to 44%.

Key finding: "That reflects the fact that despite his ties to the state, Michigan voters just don't embrace Romney. Only 45% have a favorable opinion of him to 49% with an unfavorable one. They don't accept Romney as one of their own either- only 34% consider him to be a Michigander to 57% who do not."

I know he said he won't pull out of Michigan like McCain did but why waste your money and time on a lost cause?

In the PPP write up, basically no change in support after the convention.

2012 electorate will look more like 2010 than 2008. I don't agree. I don't think it will be as blue as 2008 but I also don't think it will be as red as 2010. But those numbers make Obama's 7-point lead in Michigan, according to this poll, look even better, imo.

5. I don't think PPP re-weights results, so they're not going by any particular belief.

This is what their sample found was the composition of the electorate. That's a little scary, imo.

It does make the numbers look better (in Michigan), but it shows we really need to make sure to GOTV.

Keep 'em comin'.

This ought to be solid Obama now. Just wait for Obama's post convention bounce. Mitt is going to be hanging his head because he didn't get one.
