Bernie should heed this advice from Pres. Obama

From 2008:

Senator John McCain on Wednesday injected another surprise into his presidential campaign, announcing that he would suspend campaigning on Thursday and seek a delay in this week’s planned debate so that he could return to Washington to try to forge a consensus on a financial bailout package.

“I am calling on the President to convene a meeting with the leadership from both houses of Congress, including Senator Obama and myself,” Mr. McCain said in New York on Wednesday afternoon. “It is time for both parties to come together to solve this problem.”

A short time later, Senator Barack Obama appeared at a hastily called news conference in Clearwater, Fla., and said he agreed “there are times for politics and there are times to rise above politics and do what’s right.” But he said he saw no need to cancel the debate, scheduled for Friday night at the University of Mississippi.“This is exactly the time when people need to hear from the candidates,” Mr. Obama said.

He added: “Part of the president’s job is to deal with more than one thing at once. In my mind it’s more important than ever.”

...I've ever seen here at DU.

2008? McCain's silliness when he uselessly suspended his campaign? That is really where you went?

5. Equating any Democrat to John McCain who suspended his campaign to deal with the financial crash

when days before he'd said the fundamentals of the economy were sound literally as the stock market crashed is imagery that is far too kind to John McCain.

I loved every single thing he said on that stage. About how important the issue of safety and jobs are in the black community. I just wish it hadn't been in response to a question about ISIS.

And the folks trying to make this into "Bernie's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't on black issues" need to just give it a fucking rest. He was actually starting to walk off the stage when the reporter asked about Isis. It's clear he was done speaking entirely and was not as though he was interrupted when speaking on important AA issues and asked to talk about Isis. Trying to pretend that he's being hammered because of his support for black issues instead of what is clearly his lack of preparation on a pressing international issue is just flat out dishonest.

I agreed with what he said though and think that it alot of other black people will too. But any one running for president that instructs the media to not talk about Isis or the economy or gun control or any one of a dozen really pressing issues right now is tripping.

I think the actual event will blow over soon enough. But I think this also just adds more fuel to the total meme that he is weak on FP.
