If Bernie had talked about ISIS today, he wouldn't have been able to talk about racism and poverty.

Since the media wants nothing but to beat the drums for a U.S. invasion of Syria, Bernie would never have been allowed to discuss the misery he saw in Baltimore. The press asked about ISIS because they don't want the country to start caring about the poor again.

And clearly, nobody anywhere who wanted Bernie to talk about ISIS today wants this party to deal with poverty, social injustice, economic inequality or anything else the Democratic Party exists primarily to deal with, because you can't push for war AND still care about fighting any form of injustice, here or abroad.

Maddow last night, that the Trump hate machine was a diversion from the real issues. They blamed blacks, women, gays, Mexicans, etc., now Muslims, to ratchet up fear and have someone else to blame. He stopped short of a Hitler/Jews analogy, but I sure see it.

He was not there to grandstand on outside issues. His focus was on the deterioration within our country. He was there to point out the complete lack of cognisance between what is happening in the US vs. the rest of the world. It was not a foreign policy venue. It was a focus on America and he was right to exlude diverting interjections.

MSM sucks!!!

He does seem to have difficulty going from one topic to the next when being asked questions. He was clearly unprepared at the additional foreign policy questions in the last debate. Clinton and O'Malley showed a depth of knowledge with respect to the Middle East. Sanders made it clear he knew that is where the 'Muslim countries" are.

There are MANY who disagree with you. Plus, given Hillary's history of embellishment, such as being under sniper fire that was actually confetti, I wonder how anyone can trust one syllable that leaves her mouth.

What got Sanders in trouble initially is the instructions from the press person on his campaign. The reporter called him out on that. If the press person didn't tell the reporters "no ISIS questions" there probably wouldn't have been a story. He may or may not have answered an ISIS question and nobody would have cared.

Bernies reaction and the fact that it fits a narrative just makes a bad situation worse. But the story is about the press instructions, not the ISIS answer.

national infrastructure decay or institutional racism, because the poor and oppressed don't hold power or wealth.

The corporate media prefers to distract and divide, Bernie did right by staying on message.

Thanks for the thread, Ken Burch.

... and had he not (essentially) "dared" reporters to ask him about ISIS, and if he had the skills to provide a substantive response while gracefully pivoting and guiding things back to the topic du jour, and if he'd been able to do so without coming across as being unnecessarily abrupt, gruff, testy and frustrated, then he would have won the day. But he didn't. Presidential candidates need to do a better job at handling the unexpected and regaining control of the situation without appearing to be so annoyed.

Nobody in the MSM wants to cover poverty and racism, and your candidate wants to stop talking about them and talk only about war instead. War stops any and all struggles for justice while it is going on. Why would you prefer that? And how could any African American support the Third Way(your posts always feature its logo), when the whole point of the Third Way was and is to get the Democratic Party to abandon African Americans(like the last Clinton Administration totally did).
