Secret Service investigates teenage girl's Tweet about assassinating President Obama

Alyssa Douglas, a high school girl from the Clarksville area of Ohio, sent out a tweet Thursday night saying: "Someone needs to assassinate Obama...like ASAP #DieYouPieceOfS---"

Now the Secret Service is investigating the threat. The Clinton-Massie School District had a meeting with Douglas and her parents.

Bloggers and Twitter users followed the incident Friday with a discussion of hate speech.

The local Secret Service office said it will report its findings to the U.S. Attorney's Office for Southern District of Ohio. It is possible that the tweet will be determined to be not a legitimate threat to the president's well being.

watching several documentaries on the assassination of RFK, and JFK. And then write a report about the emotional effects of the Country, after something like that. Also lots of community service. Plus no phone, no internet until she's 18. From her tweets sounds like she just pretty much does whatever she wants. Hoping the parents start parenting her

Will all these folks come up on the background checks when they try to get a job? It may be a joke, but these threatening posts could prevent them from getting a job. Would you hire someone whose background check showed a threat against the president?
