Are the results of the Republican Primary binding?

I ask because I can not see the convention nominating any of these Primary candidates with any kind of enthusiasm. Is it possible that an alternate candidate can come out of the Republican convention?

There's a few rare exceptions, although mostly those will be binding once the state conventions have happened.

Missouri's Primary Election Begins
This year's primary does not actually count towards deciding Missouri's Republican delegates. Missouri switched to a caucus that will be held in March. The caucus will determine Missouri's official candidate choice.

Edited to add: The Republican primary is a 7 million dollar mistake. That is tax payer money.
