(62,276 posts)Eww, sorry for the imagery, but I don't mean that!
I thought, Rmoney has Colorado, no way frothy eeks him out in Denver Metro Area, but he still managed to do it.
Low turnout contributed to that. Santorum got out more votes in El Paso County (Colorado Springs, Fundy Mecca of the USA), than Rmoney got out in the entire Denver Metro Area (Jefferson County and Denver County combined).
Think about that for a minute here.
If Rmoney even spent an iota of effort in Denver he could've changed that outcome.
So it's a definite plus that the turnout is just so abyssal right now.

(37,540 posts)It's like that Pennsylvania Groundhog saw the Republican field and decided to sleep in for another 6 months. It's the Frothy One coming from the back of the pack....Gingrich jumped the fence and Rmoney is fading fast. We've got ourselves a clown car race, folks!

EPIC
Old and In the Way
(37,540 posts)In years past, I'd have predicted that Mitt walks away with it, no question. But the Republican Party here is getting smaller and crazier. It wouldn't surprise me to see Santorum benefit with the momentum he's got now make Maine playable.

(5,066 posts)Romney back In 2008 beat Mccain here. Not only that he got 60 percent of the vote.Yet tonight he lost to Santorum by 6!And I
thought there was suspose to be a significent Mormon Population In Colorado.Allthough to be fair probally not all Mormons are
like Romney.

(62,276 posts)This was, of course, Hillary's strategy, if people recall.
The difference is that Rmoney has 3 other candidates nipping at his heels, with Santorum and Newt vying for the top spot and Paul eating away any remote number of votes he could possibly have.

(24,689 posts)Mittens wanted that state and expected to win it. This has to be a huge concern for their campaign. This means its not over. Watch the big guns come out now to annialate Santorum.

(42,770 posts)the right of Mitt. They can't exactly mock him for being more conservative.
Yesterday, they were already floating the "He's not ready to be president" meme. I have to
agree with that. Aside from his insane views, he does seem to lack that je n'ai sais quoi of
a president. To me he has more of a congressional demeanor.
Of course, they can always fall back on the "couldn't even beat a dem in his own state."

(62,276 posts)However, it's clear that the voter turnout trended toward the fundies, and that ultimately Romney failed hard to get out the vote in Denver.
It's a truly remarkable result, imho.
