Body Snarking Hillary Buttons a Lowlight at California GOP Convention

It’s time to consider the possibility that the GOP is the giant panda of political parties. That is, in much the same way that pandas simply refuse to fuck even to save their species, Republicans seem to be trying to will themselves out of existence one convention/gaffe/election cycle at a time. Case in point: at the recent GOP convention in Anaheim, Calif., some body-snarking button maker decided that the best way to attract more female voters to the Republican cause was to criticize Hillary Clinton, one of the most prominent women in politics on either side of the aisle, for her body.

YOU GET IT?? Because Hillary Clinton, a presumptive presidential candidate in 2016, is a woman in the public sphere, and so therefore must be held accountable for her body and her professional competence. Hey bro, relax — it’s just California GOP rules. Don’t stress! The party is sinking deeper into irrelevance everyday. In about a year, the California Republican Party convention will be held in somebody’s basement over a twelve-pack of Mountain Dew and a Halo marathon.

They know they don't have anything positive policy wise to offer people, so they resort to insults.

Pretty disgusting.

It really makes me mad. I have a lot of respect for Hillary, and this makes me feel so attacked and defensive. It is like someone making a smart remark about a family member. It is not okay if someone else says something rotten about your mother.

which is what the Republicans have become, tending their hatred and spite like they're tender blossoms.

It's like their purple heart bandaids. It tells us a lot more about them than they could ever tell us about ourselves.

They're just rotten excuses for human beings.

Having misogynists in your party is not the same as being in a party that advocates misogyny. These buttons were at a GOP convention. It is GOP candidates who make offensive comments about women/reproductive issues.

7. this does raise an important issue for du. when we stand up for the palins and bachmanns with sexist

slurs, this is the reason why. turning palin into porn and all the things duers do with bachmann is still sexism. even if we do not like them. we do not get to say.... well she is a *****. or YOU are a hypocrite no better than a republican.

also, how many buttons do we have of a man running, talking about his old shriveled dick?

ever?

keep the misogyny out of our politics. talk about what they are doing, not how they look. if they are fuck able or not.

12. I just read an interesting soliloquy on "The Patriarchy" vs patriarchy

It didn't really say anything, just a lot of filler words, but, "The Patriarchy" standard set the stage for this kind of bullshit whether Democrat or Republican.

That being said republicans are the worst overt offenders, they directly attack our body autonomy, they are anti science, they are a disease of the mind.

However, there are plenty of liberal men who just want to hang on to privilege, now that they've head the word enough times and know what it means, typically they're trying to co-op it for themselves.

It's quite amusing, in a way, because as BainsBain pointed out in her excellent thread, it presumes there is only one type of valid experience, that of a cis white male. They wouldn't see privilege tattooed backwards on their forehead while looking in the mirror.
