Ok, wait... Back up a minute...

Are we really seeing the case being made by some in GD that those who bring up the misogyny of Elliott Rodger are basically just trying to make misogyny and MRA groups look bad? As if there's good misogyny? Am I understanding that right? Really? Cause this is kinda making my brain hurt.

I'm a bit iffy on calling him an "extremist misogynist" even, because that implies there are moderate misogynists.

Elliot Rodger, and your average MRA or anti-choicer, are merely different points on the same spectrum.

There are MRA's here at DU who won't admit it for one. And frightened assholes afraid of losing their entitled status for two.

No different from accusing civil rights or LGBT activists of the same.

Yes - I am pushing a political agenda: to find solutions to these kinds of hateful acts.

What kind of agenda should I push?

If there's this amount of denial on DU, a supposedly progressive forum (and getting less so by the day), I just don't know how the hell we can have an honest, national discourse regarding misogyny and how it devastates our society, much less the world. Perhaps I'm just feeling a bit deflated this morning -- or emotionally and psychologically battered might be a more apt description.

Take heart, progressives elsewhere are more diverse, and less brogressive!
