DU Community Help
Related: About this forumHow can I block offensive ads on DU if I can't afford to pay?
Hubby lost his job. Lately on DU I keep seeing ads with trashy photos, very vulgar, and tonight I had a pop-up ad asking me to "click to see nude pictures." I do NOT want this semi-porn content on my computer, where kids or anyone could see it. It's making me not even want to come to DU.
I don't mind seeing some ads, if that's what it takes to keep free membership but isn't there a way to request G-rated ones please?

(7,318 posts)but I'm loving it!
One day last week, I stopped seeing ads on DU and then I noticed I wasn't seeing them on ANY site.
I didn't do anything to my computer. If something malicious on my computer is causing this, well I hope it isn't doing anything else but making all the ads disappear.

(9,535 posts)I own a website with ads and need to be able to see what's on my own site.
Sometimes I actually also find helpful ads of something I do want to see or buy.
But on DU surely the mod should not allow offensive sexual content to be seen or at least give us an option to block such items.

(27,509 posts)As someone mentioned below, DU doesn't have porn ads, they are being inserted by malware on your computer.
MalwareBytes is designed to catch things other antivirus programs miss.
It works in addition to your existing anti-virus program,
it's not a replacement for an anti-virus program.
Go here:
https://www.malwarebytes.org/
Click the "Download" button.
Install and run the program.
Do what it says.
The paid version runs in the background and prevents malware infections,
that's the only difference between the two.
They used to have a lifetime subscription for what they now charge per year.
You can run the free version as often as you like.
MalwareBytes is also abbreviated as "MBAM".

(28,749 posts)You may have Malware as well, it might be worth getting your computer checked. However the other anti-ad tools mentioned in this thread also work.
