I just got a post hidden. Which is fine. But I would like to know what this means:
CONSEQUENCES OF THIS DECISION
You will no longer be able to participate in this discussion thread,
OKAY, NOT A PROBLEM
and you will not be able to start a new discussion thread in this forum until 12:09 AM.
THAT'S FINE. NO BIG DEAL
This hidden post has been added to your Transparency page.
SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
WHAT'S TABOO AND WHAT ISN'T? I didn't think I said anything too crazy considering someone told me to quit sucking tit tonight. So what is the criteria for avoiding this? And what are the ramifications?

(71,265 posts)is visible to all other members. You can see your transparency page by clicking on your profile page. Then click the transparency button and then hit the link that says show me my transparency page, and you will see it. It will tell you how many star members are ignoring you.
Read the terms of service at the bottom of the page for the rules. Posting right wing stuff will get your post hidden. Posting pro-Zimmerman stuff may get your post hidden. As Skinner says you take your chances here with the jury when you make a post.

(68,644 posts)Randomly selected members judge each alerted comment, different jurors each time, results are inconsistent.
What is it that you wrote? If you provide a link we could give you some guidance.
And, welcome to DU.

Copy and paste and post that.

(71,265 posts)Some people post many times a day like me and others a few times a week.
It was a mistake and we all make and learn from mistakes. Never let it get personal.

I get it though.

(20,176 posts)is that a lot of us here are professional political-workers/activists/campaigners so Democratic politics and DU by-extension is something we're passionate about.
I'm a writer, it's up in the background on my computer 16 hours a day as my main time-waster...factor in that most of us have been here for nearly a decade and the numbers start to look less huge. 101651posts/2812days is only 38 posts a day on average...consider how many of those posts are "+1" or "n/t" and it's easy to get numbers that high. Mine aren't that high because I tend to leave for months at a time and my highest day ever was half that. There are also posters who have been here since 2001 and have under 5k posts.

(68,644 posts)That member is a prolific poster and a staunch advocate for President Obama. She has posted high quality, well sourced posts for as long as I can remember and as a result been accused of being a paid poster.
Such accusations are rude and we used to remove them regularly if posted against her or others.
If a member doesn't like another member's posts, Democratic Underground provides an ignore feature so that you can chose to never see that other person's posts.
Just click on the red x to the right of the member's name.
Either that, or be more careful about being nice and civil versus insinuating that a person is a shill.
I can see a juror going either way on that one, but knowing how much badgering she's taken I'd have hidden it.

(39,961 posts)because her relentless fawning invites it, even in the face of evidence, reason and proof. Not to mention the ever-present referring to her own posts which makes her look like a narcissist.
Capt. Obvious
(9,002 posts)and hilarious.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)reasonable question, and one I ask myself every time I see a post by that person. There are times when you just can't suspend disbelief.
Capt. Obvious
(9,002 posts)that a bot would be cheaper.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)You are absolutely right!
Capt. Obvious
(9,002 posts)Maybe it's like HuffPo and there's a basement full of eager posters working for "exposure"
Aerows
(39,961 posts)I need to put her on ignore. That will likely solve my problems with that particular poster.
Capt. Obvious
(9,002 posts)but I miss out on too much hilarity

(39,961 posts)You asked a perfectly reasonable question, and I have to wonder about the sanity of the jury that hid your post. Welcome to DU. We aren't all idiots here.

(53,061 posts)As you enter into discussions you may find yourself at the end of some barbed replies because, as the reply that was hidden shows, you may enter into a subject that has a lot of history to it.
It may seem that people are ruder to you but they may be reacting to a low post count. That is because some people who come here to disrupt get terminated and then come back.
My suggestion to you is that in addition to the main forums find a group that intersects with a hobby or interest (we have dozens here) and get to know some other people. If you find some that you connect to you can send them PMs from time to time on anything you think is sensitive.
Welcome to DU.

(497 posts)I think I get what you're saying and if something strikes me as being odd or strange, I'll just keep it to myself.
UNLESS someone is posting absolute nonsense, that is.
Again thank you all.
