Utah Lawmakers approve concealed firearms for 18-year-olds

SALT LAKE CITY — State lawmakers gave their final approval Thursday for a bill allowing young adults to carry a concealed weapon.

In a legislative session with many debates on the ability of young adults to think rationally and handle adult decisions, lawmakers approved legislation that would create a provisional concealed carry permit for its youngest adults.

Rep. Karianne Lisonbee, R-Syracuse, sponsored HB198, a bill she described as an effort to protect college-age women who feel vulnerable to sexual assault.

because they aren't mature enough at 18 or 19 or 20 to manage alcohol. I guess they think managing a concealed gun is easier.

Republican, right-wing measure for a red state to take. They want to starve the poor, let the sick die, and in general rid the citizenry of what they consider to be undesirables. Arming adolescents is just another population control method, and the deluded gun fetishists actually believe the NRA/GOA claptrap about "civil rights" being the motivation behind the obscene marketing of lethal weapons.

"College-age women" are sexually assaulted by someone they know more often than by a rapist hiding in the bushes. This madness will likely result in more young women being shot by jealous boyfriends than the killing of rapists.

That means if they goof up like kill someone they loose their privilege to carry. It would be a hell of a goof.
