12/3/14 email from our populist Senator Elizabeth ~

"Zorra",

The game is rigged for those who have money and power. I see it every day when Washington works for those who can hire armies of lawyers and lobbyists, and we all saw it on our TVs this year with every nasty attack ad that the Koch brothers ran to drown democracy with their dollars.

But you and I know: We can’t give up because we lost one round. When people like us work together, we can stand up to even the most powerful interests. We’ve done it before, and we can do it again.

That’s why I was so pleased to see the votes on our t-shirt contest. The winner is an old saying that has been part of our campaign ever since I decided to run for the Senate.

Donate $25 or more to help us keep fighting back, and we’ll send you a 2014 “Elizabeth Warren: The best senator money can’t buy” t-shirt.

I’ve always loved that sentence – “The best senator money can’t buy.” I say it to myself every day and every night.

I’m not in Washington to work for Wall Street or Big Oil or the billionaires who have already made it. I’m not there to protect the tender fannies of the rich and powerful.

I’m there to fight for those who can’t afford to hire armies of lawyers and lobbyists – and to fight to level the playing field for working people and families.

Donate now to help us keep fighting, and we’ll send you this limited edition t-shirt – 2014 edition. Let’s remind ourselves every day who and what we’re fighting for.

Thank you for being a part of this,

Elizabeth

I posted this here because of the message of the email, and because I believe the T-shirts themselves are great PR for the our Populist message, (and, hopefully, Prez candidate!). There's a lot of low information voters who will relate to the message on the T-shirt.

I think that a populist movement at this point HAS to focus on the money that is destroying this democracy. That would be a great slogan for candidates running against Corporate Funded candidates.

I think that posters and emails and Social Media posts all should focus on who is funding candidates and make Corporate Money poison to a candidate from now on.

We know that the party leadership will NOT fund Progressive Candidates. We've seen it now over and over again.

There are some really creative people out there who could put up anti-whoever-the-Corporate Candidate is, mini documentaries with their funders listed and their voting records.

Since Progressive Candidates are not going to be funded, people can use all these tools to encourage voters to elect candidates who are not beholden to Corporate interests.

Until the money is out of politics, nothing is going to change for the better. So imo, that should be the main focus of a populist movement.

The idea that any candidate isn't bought and paid for by PACs and special interests is a fantasy at best.
