Bernie Sanders headed to New York for expected ‘Saturday Night Live’ cameo

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is planning a trip Saturday to New York, where he is likely to make an appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” according to a source with direct knowledge of plans.

The show is being hosted this week by comedian Larry David, who has played the Vermont senator with uncanny precision in multiple skits this season — even winning praise from Sanders. As of Friday morning, it was unclear what Sanders’s role on the long-running late-night comedy show would be.

The person familiar with his plans spoke on the condition of anonymity because neither "Saturday Night Live" nor the campaign was prepared to announce Sanders’s appearance.

“He is going,” CNN senior Washington correspondent Jeff Zeleny reported moments ago, citing a senior campaign advisor. “He has been invited,” Zeleny said, but quickly added, “there are no official announcements because Saturday Night Live keeps its programming close to the vest. But he is heading there and he believes he will be on SNL and there’s every reason to believe he will be because Larry David has been playing him for so long.”

“That’s going to be quite the show – quite a debut on that stage,” he added.

Actually it would be fun to see the two of them together. I wonder if Larry David could out-Bernie Bernie.

Last night as Hillary and her two moderator friends hugged and congratulated each other, Bernie quietly walked over to face the audience. It just seemed like a telling moment.

in an SNL parody of Curb Your Enthusiasm would be literally the greatest thing ever and would be mondo hilarious.
