Trump is perfect candidate to make Hillary somewhat electable

No viable Democratic candidate with national presence ran against her in the primary, except Bernie. In the beginning the media painted the race as inevitably Clinton vs Bush, and either way, the economic and political status quo for the elites would have been preserved. No big changes proposed for Wall Street or to the tax structure, popular democracy kept under wraps.

But Trump is custom designed to suck up media time, appear (and be) scary enough to make sane people look for something familiar to cling to, more than racist enough to get the troglodytes to vote for him. Get the race down to two people, Trump vs Clinton, and even though there are trust issues and a desire for real change and this broiling populist anger at the economic status quo, the energy can be channeled neatly into a two-channel choice, where Hillary by contrast looks dramatically better.

On "social issues", we on the left get what we want. Non racist moderate republican women may even vote for her too. Republican votes will be suppressed by Trump's most egregious qualities. We all get what we don't want: perpetual war and continued corporate control over *their* government.

If you want a sailboat to sail up wind, you just have to use the wind to tack left, tack right, tack left, tack right. Trying to keep "the mighty ship of state" on its course toward continuous empire and a plutocracy is like sailing upwind. Social issues seem like progress to us as long as we head left, and seem like progress to the right wing as long as we head right. In this case we are supposed to feel good when we finally elect The First Woman President, which will be heralded as a Momentous Sign of Great Progress. But meanwhile, we spend over 50% of our discretionary budget on military expenditures and our middle class has been sucked almost lifeless and infrastructure is crumbling and corporations write our laws. And our children go into debt to the banks, to earn the diplomas that let them fight for a dwindling supply of "middle class" jobs.

Bernie's message was full sail downwind, in a direction opposite what the Money Party wants, threatening the underpinnings of an elite power structure that keeps our democracy in chains.

that always was the plan.

Sadly, for the plan, and for us, something I hear from the younger voters is "at least Trump will be CHANGE". No use condescendingly lecturing them or scornfully scolding them, they are the ones who are most affected by war and college costs and interest fees and the TPP, and it is them who will inherit an earth raddled from fracking. The people running this show just collect the profits and always pass GO, and never go to jail. It has been noticed, now.

current polls have Bernie beating him by a wider margin than Clinton.

PS- Could you please keep this stuff in the Camp Weathervane group. I thought that this group was for Bernie supporters. This post certainly does not support Bernie.

I can't stand to go to weathervane because it makes me suicidal to see how the road to hell is paved with good intentions. And I had a very depressing day even aside from the election on Tuesday.

I just don't think it's an accident that TPTB have given "us" Trump.

I think tRump takes her in a rout.

The mood of the country is clearly anti-establishment. That's why tRump's winning and Bernie, who was polling at 3 percent in May, is able to challenge her.

Does tRump look insane? Maybe to the left, but to the right and low-information Independents, he looks the way they feel: angry.

And, as I just wrote about on a different thread, the number of Bernie supporters who are fed up with DNC establishment types and do not plan to vote for her must be devastating in the polling. The frantic nature of Clinton supporters on social media attempting to shame, beg, plead and bargain with Bernie supporters to at least throw her a bone is mind-blowing. It tells me that the establishment is looking at the numbers of Independents and Millennials who will split away from her by either voting for tRump, Jill Stein or staying home is enough to keep her from the gold.

Also, Hillary isn't the only woman in the race. For progressives and liberals, there is always Jill Stein. She may not win, but it's better than holding one's nose for the umpteenth time.
