Quite interesting chat about the public school system in Brooklyn back in the day: multi-ethnic community (everybody poor but hopeful), great teachers, free tuition THROUGH COLLEGE. College WAS free in this country in many places including NY and CA. And, as Lee points out at the beginning, the result (in Brooklyn) was the production of many great artists and political leaders.

Another CONTEXT: guns and the difference between rural and urban areas--a really important point if we are ever going to have sane gun laws.

Interesting personal issue: Why Sanders moved to Vermont. Sanders says that as a kid in Brooklyn he got to go to summer camp and found that he loved the countryside. That stayed with him and went he got the chance he moved to VT. (Note: He also became a big advocate for organic farming in VT. Organic farming is a MUST DO, in my opinion, if we are going to save this planet--the only one we have.)

Lots more. Context, context, context! THIS is what's missing from the Corrupt Media! No "gotcha" questions; no bullshit. WHAT do you believe in and WHY. Also, who ARE you. That's what we want to know about candidates, and that's what's we almost never get.

Yeah, Spike Lee is a Sanders supporter. I don't mean every interviewer needs to be a supporter or even sympathetic. I mean that, when the interviewer is stupid and/or uninformed and/or a corporate shill and/or actually a supporter of the candidate's opponent, the interviewee rarely gets a chance to reveal himself or herself on the matters that concern us most (who are they--where are they coming from? what is the context of their policies? can we trust them?). Interview gets focused on bullshit (i.e., mere entertainment, 'gotcha,' etc.). Interviewee struggles just to keep it on the issues, let alone anything deeper and more meaningful and more informative.
