Rallying a crush of young people and independent voters in California, Bernie Sanders has cut deeply into Hillary Clinton's lead in California, two months before the state's Democratic presidential primary, according to a new Field Poll.
Sanders, who trailed Clinton by double digits in January, now lags just 6 percentage points behind.
In California, Clinton leads Sanders 47 percent to 41 percent...But Sanders, the senator from Vermont, is pummeling Clinton by 25 percentage points among likely voters in their 30s, and by an even wider margin among younger voters, according to the poll.
Sanders leads Clinton by 10 points among independent voters likely to vote in the Democratic primary.
For Sanders, the poll offers a significant measure of the candidate's ability to compete in a large and diverse state, with the New York primary looming on April 19.
Sanders still trails Clinton among Latino voters in California, but only by 7 percentage points, according to the poll. ~ Continued...

The Latinos don't know Bernie very well and Clinton is popular because of Bill, mostly.

(41,159 posts)Latinos, blacks and in the LA area we hope. He also has very effective known public supporters campaigning and appearing in Ads for him more and more. Lately Bill Clinton has been a liability regarding the damaging policies during his administration that substantially damaged PoC namely the 1994 Crime Bill and the Welfare Deform Act of 1996. We've come a long way, and have more to go which favors Sanders. And when people get to know him they like him; I don't think time is on Hill's side.
