Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumIs there interest in
another site that functions pretty much like DU for Bernie supporters and Progressives in general? I know there is JPR. I've seen many people say that they prefer DU because of the way the site functions and I do as well.
So, I'm throwing it out there. If there is interest I can do this for us.

(19,089 posts)A newly energized progressive electorate that has been fueling Bernie's movement should not go to pasture .... That amazing energy should not go to waste ...
No matter what happens, we need to create a progressive movement that persists and becomes the political choice for every generation of progressive thinking people ...
FDR and LBJ brought it ... The Clintons and the Third Way abandoned it ... They and the Republicans killed it ...
We need to get it back ... I should note that FDR was elected four times... That's how popular his form of government was .... It will be popular again ...
We are SO close! ...

Bernie has energized A LOT of people, and it doesn't need to die.

(5,281 posts)in creating such a site, but it is awkward for me to use. Have you been there? Do you use it? There are a great bunch over there. Perhaps you could help modify it to make it more user friendly rather than starting a new project.

(16,420 posts)It takes a lot of work to do what they have done, and that's one reason I hesitated to even post this. That site DOES have a great bunch of posters.

(23,272 posts)It seems as though more websites divides us so we lack cohesion. DKos purged members also built their own site. Too many and we end up neutralized imo.

(16,420 posts)I don't know the people who built JPR and don't know that they have asked for or would accept any help.

(23,272 posts)Amongst others.
Just contact any of them about helping.
There's a slew of folks you know creating that site...

(4,667 posts)the more options, the more of a chance that at least some wont be "captured". These days all of the resources you might go to for help are the most likely to be captured.
Google "regulatory capture" "state capture" "control fraud" and so on.

(39,451 posts)JPR has the right idea, it's just not an easy website to get around.
I like this type of format much better.
Maybe if we could make JPR more user friendly, we could all head on over there instead of creating a new site?

(91 posts)A few thoughts:
I'd like a place for like-minded people, free of worries of getting hidden or worse. Some in the HRC camp are very sensitive but at the same time aggressive. I don't go to DU's home page anymore. Sometimes I go to Latest/Greatest Threads but now, more often than not, I go directly to the Bernie Group.
I don't see how differences will be resolved after the nomination. TPP, college tuition, Medicare for All, fracking, breaking up the banks, are non negotiable for quite many. Neither side will settle for a middle ground.
One thing is for sure, if Hillary somehow manages to get the nomination it will be necessary to flee from DU. It's better to have plan B in place. If Bernie wins the nomination, who knows what DU's next move will be.
I've tried the jackpineradicals but I don't understand or like the format. I've also cancelled out of Facebook never to go back.
I'm comfortable with DU's format although it looks old-fashioned now. It's not smartphone friendly either.
Is anyone in the group a web designer? Know of one?
Count me in!

(4,667 posts)Big secret!
>college tuition, Medicare for All, fracking, breaking up the banks, are non negotiable for quite many.
The WTO GATS trade deal basically locked in the HRC position starting in 1995.
They just didnt tell us!
Thats why she HAS to win! If Bernie wins then the whole thing gets exposed eventually. He's being too nice not to bring this up. He has better self control than any other human being Ive ever seen to not bring it up.
>Neither side will settle for a middle ground.
In order to get Bernie's platform we have to reject existing trade deals as well as prevent any new ones.
It would be insanity to elect the wife of the guy who signed us into this.
Here- so you can see what I am talking about, read some of these links. Click this link:

(1,573 posts)...since the people over there have already put in a greal deal of effort, and it's already home to a lot of DU ex-pats. It is somewhat awkward to maneuver on JPR, but then again DU was just as awkward in its earlier days (anyone else remember that?). If you have expertise in web design, I would think an offer to help on JPR's wouldn't be taken amiss.
Edited to add:
And if people decide on a new setup somewhere, please don't pick Facebook. There are too many of us who refuse to "do" Facebook. Thanks!
