(5,208 posts)With Hillary. Why so much love for her? Can someone explain?

(14,177 posts)I have no idea. I have no problem with the idea of evolving and growing into a better philosophy. I have done it myself. I have been surrounded by conservatives most of my life so you can imagine the fight I have to stay sane, sometimes my philosophy suffers and in some places it has become stronger because it has been up against conservative philosophy. Every day is a new day to fight. So, I get it I really do compromises are made at times. However, I don't think the LGBT community shouldn't ignore where Hillary has been in the past, it should be acknowledged and there should be a dialogue about it. I think it's toxic to ignore the issue.

(5,208 posts)The conservatives are in the rural areas, and the suburbs on phoenix and Tucson and other major cities.
I'm hoping that Bernie's message gets heard and we get many new voters.

(5,208 posts)Vote. It's a major reason why they are going after us so much. Many latinos fled over SB1070.
The republicans know that if my community was mobilized we could be a force to contend with.

(5,208 posts)Recreate Obama's coalition, which included LGBT, and vote with Hillary.
They fear Bernie will lose to a Republicans and the republicans would aggressively work to take away some of the gains that community has worked for so hard.

(34,857 posts)I don't think Hillary will do as well among younger voters as Obama. But she could do better among working class whites who didn't vote Obama because he's black.

(14,177 posts)we have to work from the ground up because that structure is not already in place for us. We will do it though. We had overwhelming support at the Pride Festival.
azmom
(5,208 posts)Different. Bernie's campaign manager said they still don't know his coalition will be. It's best if we just reach out to everyone.

(14,177 posts)I will even talk to Republicans some of them can be reasonable if they are truly about individuals being self sufficient, they should be willing to provide those tools for them to do so if they haven't gotten those tools by the time they have reached their 18th birthday.

The Corp Media will most likely find the few who support Hillary, but the Corp Media is not the place where things are happening, the New Media is where the action is and where real people get to speak for themselves.
Saw a beautiful poster today eg, 'We are women, we are Black and we are Lesbians and we support Bernie Sanders because he has consistently over the decades, supported us'. Lost the link, but it was just another example of how much support he is getting from the LGBT community.

There. She is telling me the same thing. It's a women's college at that, but they are largely Bernie supporters.
This is going around campus
things that my extended family thinks are problems at women's colleges: too much drama, not enough men
actual problem: the fact we all own bernie sanders products and can't tell which shirt belongs to whome

(17,505 posts)They don't know who Bernie Sanders is.
Hillary practically has her own musical.
This is true of many outside the LGBT community as well.

(53,235 posts)Also, some might like the idea of a woman president. I do, too. I also liked the idea of a black president but I didn't vote for Obama in the primary. What he was saying back then seemed designed to appeal to my emotions. It didn't work. Of course, I voted for him in each of the two general elections. I'm not a total idiot.

(7,231 posts)If not, the only thing we can say with certainty is that the LGBT+ community will largely stick with the Democrats, and support who-ever is nominated. All four candidates have been outspoken in their support for equal rights.
She is fake.

(23,730 posts)gays/Latinos/AAs/etc.TM": a lot of people don't even realize Bernie's running in a primary!
but eventually Sanders's impeccable--and not passive/reactive--civil-rights issue will spread
and, even more eventually, her FP record will crop up--" target="_blank">Iraq, the new Honduran regime that's less trans-friendly than Iran, using al Qaeda against Qaddafi, arming and funding the FSA while everyone knew that for a good part they basically *were* ISIS (and Ukraine of course); and us wonks will remember that we were told to STFU on Libya and Syria in the name of the undying glory of the Party

(62,325 posts)this country needs him now. Some of our Dems were not consistent on those values over the years and we need to get Wall St OUT of the People's House. Sanders is the only candidate who will do that. He is going to win. His long record of consistency is what is drawing people to him in large numbers.
Im sick to death of Politicians who wait until it's politically expedient to finanlly evolve on major issues. THEY are responsible for holding up progress as they pursue their own political careers which appear to take first place often over the lives of millions of ordinary people.
I will not support politicians who are supported by Wall St.
I am not worried about being faced with the choice of a Republican over a Democrat I am not enthusiastic about any more. We have finally found a candidate who requires no nose holding, to vote FOR and that is what we will do.

(1,968 posts)My comment is regarding the banter between supporters of the two candidates, like you attempted to do wit me. Where did you come to the conclusion that that this was a Bernie support group?
smokey nj
(43,853 posts)This group is a place for Bernie supporters to post about his campaign. There are also groups for Hillary supporters and Martin O'Malley supporters. If you want to complain about too much primary talk, these are not the groups in which to do it.

(18,998 posts)But it may be another Bush.
My theory is if it is between two dynasties they will chose Bush...the ones who vote that is.
Many independents will just stay home seeing it as tweedle dum or tweedle dee.
But we shall see.
