I had the distinct privilege of being their today. I now fully understand the power of his message in person. He added some new aspects to his stump speech, addressed problems specific to RI and had the crowd in the palm of his hand. One of my favorite days in a long long time.
He also sat down with our local news

(2,052 posts)We barely have drivable roads and bridges. I believe sadly we don't have the money to run an effective election. I'll be honest. Everything is so close by and I do not think this will keep people home. My polling place got closed and moved. It's now actually even closer to my home

(11,862 posts)Lived there for about 3 years...the people were wonderful..back then it was LIBERAL
I recall a party at my house..there was a black man about 6'4,5,6 or whatever..he towered over everyone, his girlfriend was white and about 5'something..or so as she looked beside him..I innocently asked if he played basketball...and I was accused at being a racist!!! Cause I was from Virginia!
See how the people tried to protect their own from some southerner?
Even though they were wrong.

(11,862 posts)The railroads claimed the roads were the city's problem, and the city's tried to get the railroads to fix the bridges.
I remember when Rhode Island was very LIBERAL!

(2,052 posts)We have Dems in every state office but they are Dems in name only.
I miss the old Rhode Island.
There is a certain charm to it though and I do encourage anyone to come visit us, especially the historic areas of Providence and obviously Newport. You won't be disappointed by the food and the history

(2,052 posts)To help out but I brought my fiancé and his dad who would never have made it through the whole day from that early.
I ran down to the front at the end but only got about 5 feet away. No handshakes. Jealous!!!

(11,945 posts)I've never been to R.I., but my dad told us that Stephen Hopkins, who signed the Declaration of Independence from R.I., was an ancestor. I never checked it out, so don't know. Anyway, it makes the state feel special.
So glad that two of our Bernie people were there!
