Robert Reich: The Endgame of 2016′s Anti-Establishment Politics

http://www.commondreams.org/views/2016/04/25/endgame-2016s-anti-establishment-politics

Many Sanders supporters will gravitate to Hillary Clinton nonetheless out of repulsion toward the Republican candidate, especially if it’s Donald Trump. Likewise, if Trump loses his bid for the nomination, many of his supporters will vote Republican in any event, particularly if the Democratic nominee is Hillary Clinton.

But, unlike previous elections, a good number may simply decide to sit out the election because of their even greater repulsion toward politics as usual — and the conviction it’s rigged by the establishment for its own benefit.

That conviction wasn’t present in the 2008 election. It emerged later, starting in the 2008 financial crisis, when the government bailed out the biggest Wall Street banks while letting underwater homeowners drown.

Both the Tea Party movement and Occupy were angry responses — Tea Partiers apoplectic about government’s role, Occupiers furious with Wall Street — two sides of the same coin.

Is the party trying to commit suicide, or are they just that stupid?

jobs already lined up, by voting corporate or supporting corporate, which, although it may lose an election, will assure them wealth.

In the case of Hillary, she and Bill are already quite wealthy from coincidentally favoring with their influence those that gave them their multi-millions and will continue to be rewarded for their service via "speaking" gigs or "charitable donations".

Or if she wins the best of the two most hate politicians contest if the nominee, she will continue getting "charitable donations" from sources that oddly end up getting what they want from the administration by shear coincidence.

Modern politics 101 has more to do with building wealth than winning elections or majorities, when winning happens it is but a means to the financial end.

Welcome to our budding baby Oligarchy.

It is essentially pushing the false narrative that there are ONLY two choices and therefore we have no reason to vote. Of course we all know that is not true. I've heard many people say they will either write in Sanders or vote for Stein. Yes, there will be SOME people who stay home, I don't doubt that. But most I would guess would care about the down ticket races.

(Note to the jury: I did not advocate writing in Sanders or voting for Stein in the GE. I said that I've heard people say, which is true.)

won't be left blowing in the wind. Millennials WILL VOTE.

Mark my words, they won't be staying home and that doesn't bode well for Clinton.

People know just how very important this election is. Our PLANET depends on the outcome. Millennials' futures depend on the outcome. Their lives depend on it, literally, because our planet has 10 years before shit hits the fan.

This election is a matter of life or death.
