Related: About this forumWill Trump Drop Out of the 2024 Election For a Pardon? - Thom Hartmann
Donald Trump, according to one caller, could arrange to drop out of the 2024 election on the condition that he receives a full pardon. Decision 2024 - is it better to prosecute Trump & see him face the consequences? Or, is it better to safeguard Democracy from the would-be-dictator who could take it all away from us? - Aired on 04/23/2024.

(102,358 posts)leaves Trump sending an "envoy" to Biden, which, of course, would immediately leak (intentionally or not and who could blame WH if it was intentional)...
Once news that this request had been made--the ultimate sign of "weakness" in Trumpist's minds, TSF is finished--even with a large part of his most brainwashed MAGATs.
So, now, how would this work?

(16,513 posts)A pardon is the last thing that orange freak needs, even IF Joe was willing to consider such a thing, which I'm sure is not the case. There are so many things wrong with this idea that it would take too long to list them all.
Leaving aside the fact that a presidential pardon would have no effect on the crimes Trump is charged with in New York and Georgia, the most glaringly obvious reason this would never happen is that it flies in the face of everything we know about the personalities of these two men. ESPECIALLY Trump.
TSF would never ask for such a thing, because it would be an admission of weakness. He'd be, in effect, flying the white flag of surrender, and I'm quite sure he'd literally rather die. Weakness and losing are the two most deadly sins to Trump, and admitting to either, even privately, is not something he's remotely capable of.
As soon as the indictments started to come down, Trump started railing about Biden "weaponizing" the DOJ against him, and he's been doing so ever since. Accepting a pardon from the same potus that he's repeatedly accused of "rigging" the justice system against him is would be an admission that he's beaten, that he's absolutely desperate. Can any of us imagine him doing that? I sure as hell can't.
The idea that Biden would seriously entertain such a request (much less spontaneously offer such s thing) is also ridiculous. Joe knows how untrustworthy Trump is and that he would NEVER adhere to any conditions attached to such a pardon (like dropping out of the 2024 race). Joe also knows that Trump would regard a pardon as a get-out-of-jail-free card and validation that he "did nothing wrong" (as he's so fond of saying), and he would spin it that way until he was dizzy. Then he would go ahead and do whatever he felt like doing.
I could go on and on, but I'll stop here. I haven't watched the video, but I hope someone can confirm that it addresses at least some of the above issues. If it doesn't, I'll be very disappointed.
