GOP House leaders call for criminal investigation of Foley

Posted by Rocktivity:

10/1/2006: ...(Rocktivity) calls for criminal investigation of GOP House leaders since at least two of them can charged as acessories. There is now also a matter of a six-figure contribution Foley made to one of the leaders who was told about the e-mails--hush money?

10/4/2006: I want to see when Foley gave Reynold's comittee $100,000, though I've also heard it could be as high as $350,000. Are such amounts normal?

UPDATE: TMZ has parking lot video

(WARNING: Graphic)

TMZ: Suge drove to a Tam's Burgers in Compton where Dr. Dre was filming footage connected with the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton had been kicked out of another location shoot 20 minutes earlier, and he claims he went to the burger joint to make peace with Dre...

You see Suge pull up and he is almost instantly confronted by Cle "Bone" Sloan, who did security for the film. You clearly see Bone attacking Suge through the driver's window, when Suge suddenly throws the truck in reverse, clipping Bone with the side view mirror and knocking him down.

You also see Terry Carter -- the man who ended up run over and dead -- standing near Bone. Terry moves into the parking lot when Suge guns it again, hitting Bone a second time and mowing Terry down, mortally wounding him.

Suge claims he was not trying to run either man over but instead was trying to escape out of fear he would be killed. Suge's lawyer claims Bone and Terry both had guns. Check out the video. As Bone lays on the ground you clearly see another man walk up, remove something from Bone and put it in his waistband.

Maybe the men in the lot were armed -- but no one appears to be brandishing a gun. More to the point, since Suge had time to decide to straighten his front wheels in order to drive back into the lot after he backed up, he also had time to decide to turn his front wheels to the left in order to drive to the nearest police station after he backed up. Had he done the latter, Suge would have had a legitimate claim of self-defense.

He simply has his medical procedures mixed up, that's all

Colonoscopy A test that allows your doctor to look at the inner lining of your large intestine (rectum and colon)...(H)elps find ulcers, colon polyps, tumors, and areas of inflammation or bleeding...(T)issue samples can be collected (biopsy) and abnormal growths can be taken out. (It) can also be used as a screening test to check for cancer or precancerous growths in the colon or rectum (polyps).

Laparoscopy: a surgery that uses a thin, lighted tube put through a cut (incision) in the belly to look at the abdominal organs or the female pelvic organs. Laparoscopy is used to find problems such as cysts, adhesions, fibroids , and infection. Tissue samples can be taken for biopsy through the tube (laparoscope).

Frist-oscopy: a diagnosis made by a doctor outside his area of expertise by viewing a four-month-old video.

GOP-oscopy: A camera built into a vaginal probe determines if a fetus is present in order to intimidate women out of seeking abortions. Fulfills the federal definition of rape:

“The penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.

Well, WAS Ledisi originally to be part of the Selma tribute, or was she not?

I've found only one media source that dared to ask:

Beyonce just got herself caught up in some TROUBLING CONTROVERSY...You see, the Grammy Award planners committed to doing a tribute to Martin Luther King as early as December. And with the success of the movie Selma, they planned on using the actors/performers from the movie to help bring the tribute to life. Common and John Legend were to perform their Oscar nominated hit song Glory. And Ledisi - who played Mahalia Jackson in Selma - was to sing Take My Precious Hand. Well last week, Beyonce decided that she wanted to sing Ledisi's song...

(O)ne of Ledisi's closest friends...explained, "Beyonce was supposed to sing 7-11, it was all set. But I guess she changed her mind...Ledisi was rehearsing and everything, then last week they were, like, 'Beyonce wants to sing your part.' We all thought it was a joke, but it wasn't."

We don't know how reliable the source is, of course, especially since he or she is a friend of Ledisi's. But the time stamp on the screen capture of this photo from Ledisi's official Instagram feed dates it January 28 or 29 -- right within the source's timeline:

Now, whatever she could be referring to -- what has Ledisi been working on so intently that it required six years AND divine intervention? Learning to drive with a stick shift? Straightening her hair? Getting her boyfriend to leave the toilet seat down? Breaking into the big time by singing an award-nominated song from an award-nominated movie on national prime time broadcast TV?

Queen Bey, you've been stung BACK!!!

Queen Bey(once) Stings Selma Movie Soundtrack Singer

Billboard: Queen B closed out the Grammys with Take My Hand Precious Lord, but the performance sparked drama when fans were upset that R&B vocalist Ledisi was not chosen to sing the same hymn she recorded for (the movie) Selma, (in which) Ledisi portrayed the late soul singer Mahalia Jackson...

Entertainment Tonight's Kevin Frazier asked Ledisi about the drama on the Grammys red carpet...(T)he singer responded, "I don't have a clue...Take My Hand Precious Lord...started with the queen Mahalia, the queen of soul Aretha Franklin, then I was able to portray and sing my version of the song and now we have Beyonce. Her generation will now know the song so I'm a part of history. I look it at like that instead of looking at it as a negative."

Frazier also asked John Legend how Beyonce was selected to open his performance with Common for the Oscar-nominated song Glory..."We were actually approached by Beyonce," Legend told Frazier. "She wanted to do an intro to our performance and introduce us. You don't really say no to Beyonce if she asks to perform with you."

Ledisi coincidentally lost to Beyonce in the Best R&B Performance category. (She) took the award for Drunk in Love over Ledisi's track Like This...

Unless Ledisi struck a deal to sing at the Oscars on Feb. 22, she got stung big time. But it all depends on whose idea was it to do a MLK/Selma tribute to begin with. I'm betting it was the Grammy people, simply because it makes sense -- and because inviting Ledisi as well as John Legend and Common (all Grammy nominees, but not for Selma) makes sense, too. But Beyonce threw a monkey wrench into the timeline, and not "coincidentally."

Forcing herself on Legend (and forcing Ledisi out) solved several problems for Queen Bey simultaneously:

1) She could join Katy Perry in presenting a more sedate stage image in the face of Obama's message to change the culture away from sexual exploitation and violence. They both wore long white dresses and stood still, in stark contrast to what they did at last years' Grammies:

2) She was nominated for two Grammies for her song Drunk In Love, which not only undermined Obama's message, but which she performed at last year's Grammies. I guess she felt that re-performing it with entirely new staging wasn't a viable option.

3) It would show that she could be more than a half-naked Madonna clone. Lady Gaga won a Grammy for singing with Tony Bennett -- why couldn't she win one for singing with Jessye Norman someday?

4) An online cottage industry has arisen on the premise that she and her husband are practicing satanists (I like to call it the Illumin-Nutty). Performance of a gospel song would surely put a dent in that.

But there's a problem that both Beyonce and the Grammies overlooked: 5) She and Ledisi were competing for a Grammy, which Beyonce won. That raises the possibility of a quid pro quo -- which is why the Grammies should have insisted that either Leisidi remain involved, or Beyonce choose another song.

So here's how I think it went down: Grammies invite Legend/Common and Ledisi to do a Selma/MLK tribute, Beyonce invites herself to be part of the tribute, Grammies dis-invite Ledisi.

And now for the benediction: Ledisi's version of the song from the Selma album:

She sings it a capella? That suggests another possible problem for Beyonce: 6) Maybe she was either just plain jealous, worried about being out-sung, or both!

DING DING DING -- Fuzzy Slipper, you're our grand prize winner!

Now that takes some real guts. To come out against sexual assault? On a show featuring rap and hip-hop?

Yeah, doesn't he realize that contributing to a culture that abhors sexual exploitation/intimidation and is based on merit/talent would put most of those Grammy performers out of business?

On the other hand, it might explain this review:

Meanwhile, even if Kanye was having a blast, the rest of the show featured a surprising amount of very serious performances. Everything — from Usher’s tribute to Stevie Wonder to Katy Perry’s song dedicated to a survivor of domestic violence — led to an incredibly somber night. Beyoncé closed out the show with “Take My Hand Precious Lord” (introducing John Legend and Common’s “Glory”) as a group of background performers held up their hands in a “hands up, don’t shoot” image.

It seems like only a year ago that Obama White House guest Beyonce and Katy were carrying on like this at the Grammies...oh, wait -- it WAS only a year ago:

Pro Golfer Robert Allenby: I was abducted, robbed

ESPN: PGA Tour player Robert Allenby said he was kidnapped and robbed Friday night after missing the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii...(H)e was at a wine bar in Waikiki when he was abducted at around 11 p.m. local time, placed in a car, driven 6½ miles away and robbed...Honolulu television station KHON2 said police were investigating it as second-degree robbery...

Allenby told the Australian Associated Press..."I was separated from my friend [Anthony Puntoriero] in the bar after we had paid the tab at 10:48 p.m., and he went to the bathroom and next thing you know I'm being dumped in a park miles away. I only know this part because a homeless woman found me and told me she saw a few guys pull up and throw me out of the car. That is where I got the scrapes above my eye from the sidewalk."

Michael "Mick" Middlemo, Allenby's caddie, told Australia's 9 News in a phone interview Saturday that he was also at the establishment with the golfer on Friday night, but left around 10:30..."(Allenby said he) didn't remember leaving," Middlemo told (a) TV station from a Honolulu police station..."He has no recollection of leaving that bar, which was ridiculous because I saw him 10 minutes earlier and he was fine...None of us were (drunk)...I have no doubt that something was put in one of his drinks." Middlemo, who was staying at a different hotel, said he didn't find out what had happened until...Saturday morning...

He misses the cut, goes to a wine bar with a friend, pays the tab, waits for his friend to make a potty stop, then lights out? If something weird had happened before he left the bar, surely it would have been noticed. How about, he was drowning his sorrows in more ways than one BECAUSE he missed the cut?

This from a man who said he wants the Rolling Stones to play at his inauguration?

New York Times (2007): Huckabee ordered soup and a sandwich without drama or comment...and began talking about rock ’n’ roll...I...asked who he would like to play at his inaugural. ‘‘I’ve got to start with the Stones,’’ Huckabee said.

The governor regards 1968 as the dawning of ‘‘the age of the birth-control pill, free love, gay sex, the drug culture and reckless disregard for standards.’’ The Rolling Stones album Their Satanic Majesties Request provided the soundtrack for that annus terribilis.

But Mike Huckabee wanted me to know that he believes in the separation of church and stage. The governor’s musical wish list also included John Mellencamp, who, he noted, would be welcome despite their differing political views; the country duo Brooks & Dunn; Stevie Wonder; and, surprisingly, Grand Funk Railroad. ‘‘That’s a groundbreaking group,’’ he said earnestly. ‘‘The bass player, Mel Schacher, is very underrated. ’’

And Mr. Huckabee wins the gold medal for completing a two-and-a half twisting self-contradiction with a pike! Doesn't he know that "the rock beat" is:

...a dominant and repetitious offbeat which competes with the melody and distracts from the words of a song. The contradictory messages in the beat, the words, the melody, the style of the presentation, and the appearance of the musicians all create a subtle confusion in the minds, wills, and emotions of the listeners, which leads them to question the absolute moral standards of God...

In this letter, a member of the band 98 Degrees tries to intercede with an associate of Huckabee's in hopes of saving him:

I learned that you and Governor Huckabee are longtime associates and that you were photographed together at a recent “Huckabee for President” campaign event at a Houston home...Though it’s been widely reported in the media, it may have escaped your attention that Gov. Huckabee not only loves rock music, he plays bass guitar in a rock band!

Do you want a Commander in Chief who willfully violates your “Ten Commandments of Rock”? Do you want The Star-Spangled Banner performed with the “ROCK BEAT”? I’m sure you recognize this Commitment to Reject the Deception of the ‘Rock Beat’ in Any Form, a pledge you have asked others to sign:

“Almighty Father, based on the authority of your Word and the testimony of others, I now purpose to remove from my life any music that contains a 'ROCK BEAT'; and to replace it with melodious music that glorifies You and edifies others.”

Signature _______________________________________ Date_______________

For decades, you’ve been blaming rock music for society’s problems. Now’s your chance to...take some personal responsibility (and) make an international public statement...I’m now calling on you to make a public request for your good friend Mike Huckabee to sign it, too.

Oh, and here is he is performing the ultra wholesome Catch Scratch Fever with the ultra wholesome Ted Nugent (link):
