Car Crash Survivor Reunited With His ‘Guardian Angel’

Car Crash Survivor Reunited With His ‘Guardian Angel’
July 30, 2012 10:45 PM

snip...
After Wilson crashed his car when he fell asleep at the wheel, he was trapped – leg broken, femur snapped – hope was fading as cars zipped on by.

Sabrina, a young mother of two, was the only one to stop. After paramedics arrived, she went on her way and Justin never got the chance then to say thank you.

“I think I would’ve died that night if you hadn’t stopped,” Justin told her Monday.

“By the time I got there and ran and got you out, it was like ‘snap.’ It was just crazy,” she said.

Crazy because seconds after Sabrina pulled Justin out of his car, the semi truck slammed into his wrecked vehicle.

“I thought we were going to die,” she said.

Republicans killing Chick-fil-A with kindness?

Republicans killing Chick-fil-A with kindness?
Posted by Rachel Weiner at 01:41 PM ET, 07/30/2012

Lately, Chick-fil-A has some high-profile fans. But an analysis from YouGov suggests that becoming a conservative cause is not good for the company’s brand.

The YouGov BrandIndex subtracts negative feedback from positive among its 1.7 million American fast-food eaters. Since July 19, when Chick-fil-A founder Dan Cathy suggested that changing the traditional definition of what constitutes a family is “inviting God’s judgment on our nation,” perception of the brand has dropped to 4 points below the national average from its spot at 19 points above the average before he made the comment.

(The only area of the country where perception of Chick-fil-A has not gone downhill: the Midwest.)

That drop comes as Republicans have rallied around the company as a conservative cause worth defending.

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee declared Aug. 1 “Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day.” Former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum has live-tweeted his peach shakes. Speaking in Texas this past weekend, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin promised to stop by the chain on her way home (and then posted proof). Conservative activists touted long lines at various franchises.

Michelle Obama on Olympics: British "know what they're doing"

snip...
This is Michelle Obama's first Olympics, but she's been around the international scene long enough to know a loaded question when she hears one.

Asked by CBS News how she thinks the preparations have gone, she replied, "Oh, my goodness, the United Kingdom, they've had a phenomenal year. I mean, they've pulled off a major wedding, a Diamond Jubilee and now, the Olympics. They know what they're doing.

"So we're just excited to be here," Mrs. Obama said.

"And I am just honored to be able to represent the United States. I mean, truly that's what this is all about. It's about these athletes and the stories that they tell. The inspiration that they transmit to the rest of the world, particularly kids in our country."

Mrs. Obama pointed out that the Olympics present a great opportunity to get kids to see the value in staying in shape and eating right.
