Best part was when some Democrat yelled "on your knees" as McCarthy approached Gaetz. (I'm not making that up.)

Jim Jordan drafted doc that gave McCarthy gavel -allows for INTERFERENCE INTO ONGOING INVESTIGATIONS
A Jim Jordan drafted document allowing for the interference into ongoing criminal investigations is what got Scott Perry, Matt Gaetz, Paul Gosar, and Andy Biggs -- all of whom sought pardons -- to allow McCarthy to get a gavel.
It appears some of these changes may have been part of the ongoing negotiation that occurred to get Speaker McCarthy the gavel. The metadata on the updated document shows it was last modified at 5:40pm yesterday, in the midst of final intense negotiations.
There are some eye-opening provisions in the text of the GOPs proposed select subcommittee on the weaponization of the federal government that will get a vote next week.
One explicitly authorizes the review of ongoing criminal investigations.(A) the expansive role of Article II authority vested in the Executive Branch to collect information on or otherwise investigate citizens of the United States, including ongoing criminal investigations;

Rep Jamie Raskin ftw
This is a body where James Madison, Abraham Lincoln, and Thaddeus Stevens once served. I dont buy the GOPs whole attack on science, but this week definitely casts doubt on the theory of evolution. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), on Twitter.

Pelosi's advice for GOP House Negotiations: "I think you would need a doctor or a psychiatrist"
What level of insanity would you put on somebody who would want to bea historic loss its really sad. I dont even understand it. Given any version of it. I think you would need a doctor or a psychiatristhttps://twitter.com/meredithllee/status/1611171423451496449
"They're the majority and they can't even manage a peaceful transition to themselves."
Kildee then said it wasn't exactly surprising to see House Republicans flailing around given how little they seem to care about actual governance.
"It's not the where government was designed to function, but it is... an example of what happens when we put people like this in charge of the U.S. Congress," he said. "They're the majority and they can't even manage a peaceful transition to themselves."

What's happening in the House Chambers is a microcosm of what's happened to the Republican Party.
A fringe faction holds the larger group hostage.
The larger group is 💯 responsible for letting it happen.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi is correct as usual.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi: "I'm saddened by all of this. You can just imagine what it would be like if a woman were holding up the opening of Congress, the swearing in of members, the enabling of staff to be hired to do the people's work. Can you just imagine for a person of color?"
